Season 21 Squadron Results - graphs and analysis

On each graph, points are on the Y-axis, and squadron position on the leaderboard is on the X-axis. Both scales are logarithmic. The light grey line (diamond marker) is the numbers for the previous season, the dark grey line (triangle marker) is the numbers for the same season last year (season 14), and all stats are PC only. As in previous seasons, the approximate power-law distribution continues, allowing estimates of total activity to be made without spending too long reading the boards.
(Political is excluded, because there are well-known exploits to allow very high scores, and because it's not clear even without the exploits what it's supposed to be measuring: the in-game description of "large and happy faction" is clearly wrong - possibly this will change if they ever implement BGS happiness properly)

Anti Xeno (243 pages)
Winners: The Wing of Destiny with ~14% of all points. Marauder's Vanguard and Borann Boys take the other trophies.
After last season's record scores this one is slightly quieter, but still some intense competition for the top places, and The Wing of Destiny picking up their first ever trophy. With - for now - AX activity somewhat reduced, this may be a high point for a while, or there may be more Thargoids next time.

Combat (2537 pages)
Winners: Stellanebula Project with ~1% of all points. Lavigny's Legion and New Pilots Initiative take the other trophies.
Familiar names in all of the top 3 slots this time round, in a season virtually identical to last time in terms of points scored.

CQC (80 pages)
Winners: We Rock You Roll with ~16% of all points. CQC Discord and Loose Screws Podcast take the other places.
Loose Screws Podcast pick up a second trophy, the two regulars pick up yet another Gold and Silver for their collections. The consequences of the Horizons/Odyssey split continue to hurt participation overall.

Exploration (2826 pages)
Winners: Stellanebula Project with ~2% of all points. The Stellar Cartographers Guild and IGAU take the other trophies.
Also not much change here - activity slightly up on last season, and some regular winners taking all the trophies. The total number of squadrons is significantly up on last time, though.

Powerplay (88 pages)
Winners: Federal Liberal Command with ~10% of all points. Madmen of the Mogonjo and Lavingy's Legion take the other trophies.
A new trophy entrant here for Madmen of the Mogonjo - a small squadron supporting Edmund Mahon, and the first Alliance squadron to get a Powerplay trophy. Overall activity continues its normal consistent pace.

Trade (2305 pages)
Winners: Winged Hussars with ~2% of all points. Azgharie and EG Pilots take the other trophies.
After last season's narrow defeat, the Winged Hussars take Gold this time, while EG Pilots return with their first Trade trophy and their first trophy of any sort since Season 7. Overall activity is slightly up compared with last season.

Other comments
Last year's season 14 was the first with the full effects of the earnings rebalance in, as well as a busy time overall with record performances in Exploration, as well as strong Combat and CQC, and so compared with "last year" the top 1000 places are all down somewhat on those boards, with Trade continuing to fall (though already even by Season 14 quite a way down on its former gem-powered heights)

The Exploration squadron count returns to growth after several unsteady post-Odyssey seasons, with 132 extra pages compared with last time - almost exactly the same as the average pre-Odyssey season-to-season growth. It'll be interesting to see if this is a return to the "old" normal, or just a temporary blip, though other indicators of player activity are also seeing some increases as well for now.

It looks like you've made a typo last season (20), and wrote 2,662 pages there - but that was Season 19's result. You accidentally wrote that number in for season 20 too, although you did note the increase in the text below it. So, just to make sure, the correct sequence would be 2662 -> 2835 -> 2826: this Season 21 was a tiny bit below the previous one.
 
It looks like you've made a typo last season (20), and wrote 2,662 pages there - but that was Season 19's result. You accidentally wrote that number in for season 20 too, although you did note the increase in the text below it. So, just to make sure, the correct sequence would be 2662 -> 2835 -> 2826: this Season 21 was a tiny bit below the previous one.
Curiously, I've not got that either - I have 2662 -> 2694 -> 2826 recorded in the actual spreadsheet... and my comments on season 20 certainly only suggest a small rise, as 2835 would have beaten the S17 record. Hmm.

This shot shows 2,835 pages as well. Maybe there was a glitch back then? (And huh, I didn't notice myself that 2,835 was a record.)
