Season pass for future DLC

Given the recent news discussed in the recent Frontier Unlocked regarding dlc releases being put on hold I think this is a good opportunity to concider a different way of releasing them in the future. While I get that not everyone will want every single dlc that is released for those that do there should be a season pass option available. Pay one price per year and receive dlc automatically as soon as it's released. More money can be made off of these passes because they can essentially cost the amount of a years worth of individual dlc combined. Other companies like Bandico and Giants software offer season passes for their dlc and the financial results speak for themselves. Season/annual passes for dlc are how those companies are able to stay financially stable. As one who is going to want every future dlc and im sure I'm not the only one, having that option would be a lot more convenient and it would make you guys more money in the long run, gurenteed

If I'm not wrong, this was possible in PC1...
But then you would just rent the dlcs (for years?) And if you're tired of paying monthly fees, all your creations containing those dlcs are gone...

Yeah, only if the pass was to purchase and not simply to rent dlc's like they tried in PC1.

While it's not a bad idea, quite frankly it would depend on what they do to fix the games many problems and what the quality of upcoming DLC's are. In my opinion both are lacking at the moment and I'm not yet convinced either will get the needed improvements as of yet. It's easy to say that fixes will be made, but then it was easy to say this game was ready for release as well and provide a bunch of pre-release reviews that sang it's praises, which turned out to be hollow for many people..

Have I given up on the game?

Not at all. but I'm a realist waiting to see what actually happens first, and would only consider such a program after seeing what is done to fix the game and improve the DLC offerings.

I wouldn't buy a pass. If I like a dlc then I'll buy it (in case of the Thrill rides pack, it will be if the discount is right).
Maybe it would make more sense to buy a pass if people get interested in the game and a lot of paid dlcs were released already. Then they could test it and decide if they might buy some stuff.

Actually it would have been great to have a short time pass for PC2 at release for little money. Then we were able to test the game, see the actual status of development and consider that it's not worth it actually...

Like I was saying not EVERYONE would buy a pass but I think it should be an option and I'm not talking about a monthly pass im talking an annual pass where you pay one price per year and the dlc are automatically added to your game. A lot of other companies including one in particular that I can think of, giants software, they do the same thing, and that's why they're so successful. I like having every dlc because it gives you the full list of options available for the game base game and dlc. It unlocks the game's full potential. So that's why it's just something for them to consider

Once they fix the game and DLC is shown to be more than five items, then sure, it's not a bad idea at all.

I bought all the DLC for PC1 and PZ myself, and I would certainly do so again if the problems are fixed and DLC appears to be worthwhile for the price asked, no problem.. But if the game remains wonky and DLC is sub-par, then no, I'd consider every DLC on it's own and not get tied to something...if I continued with the game at all.

But then it depends on the price at all.
It might be cheaper to buy every dlc than buying several annual passes in a row...
It's probably something for short term players, but everybody is free to decide what's better.

I would hate if those passes would become the only way to play a game.

Absolutely not. Zero subscription costs only. If I pay for a game I want to own it rather than rent it.

Afterthought. I don't mind the idea for those that want it but I'd like to buy straight up DLC.

I didn't say anything about subscription costs I was talking about just the dlcs themselves not the whole game.

I understand what Katerina is talking about as I have got the season passes for some other games I own. They basically outline what they are projecting to include in the pass (these particular DLCs/features/etc. are planned for release this year) and you can buy the season pass to prepay and automatically get as they are released throughout the year. It's not a rental or a continuous sub but the player saying I for sure want this content as it is released and trust that it will be delivered via the timeframe outlined in the roadmap. I don't foresee F-Dev going with this model as they have never been one to like to disclose anything that far ahead of time with promises of things being delivered. And honestly, right now they have negatively impacted the perspective and trust of so many in their fanbase/community that a lot of consumers would be skeptical and not willing to pay out up front like this. Personally, I am at a mindset that I will scrutinize and decide individually on whether it is worth it or not to me for all future paid content for this game.

There was/is a subscription pass for PC1 on Steam 1, 3 or 6 months...
This was for dlcs only and an additional offer.

This is the link to it: (please delete if not allowed)

But if you say this pass would be a prepaid purchase for everything they would release in that period of time, then they would have to explain what/how much content it will include. Just explaining it will include maybe 4 dlcs a year without saying anything about a dlc's quantity problably wouldn't be allowed by law (at least in the EU) because you wouldn't know what you would get for your money (4 dlcs could contain 5 rides each or 4 dlcs with 10 rides and 100 scenery pieces each or maybe 50 rides and 5000 scenery pieces in total?).

And what would be the advantage of such a season pass compared to buying each dlc at release? Maybe you could save some money if they would say that each dlc would be 10€ at release and a prepaid pass including 4 dlcs would be 35€.
The only big advantage is that Frontier already got your money...

The DLC's are generally a surprise, we don't know what they are working on until it is almost ready for release. They are very tight lipped about future plans but once in a while they will say what they are working on like fixes or what they might want to do in the future. I'm glad they made PC2 because we were never going to get working water slides and pools in PC1.

No I think this will open up to icky business practices and takes the excitement away. It's giving EA. They nailed DLC in planet zoo, a secret surprise pack every 3 months, clearly made with love, that you can buy individually as it comes out, keeps the magic alive wondering what's going to come next and allows you to build up your selection of packs as and when.
