An interesting story picked up from a local system news channel that has recently gone viral Galaxy wide -
Reports of a black Krait MkII delivering food and medicine to communities ravaged by famine and disease are coming out of several systems that are currently enduring extreme hardship this December.
It seems that the ship, reportedly named “Black Santa” offloads in excess of 100 tonnes of much sought after medicine and food to colonies and off world stations that are experiencing the direst of situations. It then leaves almost immediately, never to be seen again!
“This is no Good Samaritan!” I hear you say, as the profit margins on such in demand goods reek of exploitation and capitalism at its ugliest - taking advantage of those with no other choice but to let you!
Similar practises are well known in systems like ours, that have endured too many failed harvests and the inevitable diseases that follow in their wake. But here is a tale far less familiar, for our mysterious benefactor is no profiteer, as he then donates back the entire profit percentage to those families most in need of the aid!
Such altruism is a rare quality in this era and the fact this pilot has been credited with delivering over 1000 tonnes of medical and nutritional aid in Empire, Federation, Alliance and Independent systems has caused some call him a modern day Christmas miracle!
Bizarrely the ship does not appear in any known databases and no records of a “Black Santa” seem to currently exist or have ever existed! The identity of the pilot then remains a mystery, though some claim to have seen a large man, dressed in red with a long white beard and sunglasses standing next to a black MkII, humming to himself whilst cargo is being offloaded.
For those of you who do celebrate this coming holiday season, perhaps there is magic in the air after all!
