Sorry for image size, it appears fullscreen when i googled it.
Basically, I'm seeing a lot of the same design language there. angular cockpit, upswept body form, downswept wings with wingtip swivel nacelles.
Could this be the Alliance answer to the Vulture?

The second alliance ship is the Krait.
…
The Chieftain looks so ugly. -.- I still can't believe that Frontier introduces so many "whatever" ships in ED instead of well known ELITE ships. A lot of them are still missing!

Quite frankly it looks so different that it's like it's come from another game (erm.. THE other game, even)... Does not seem to fit the Elite styling at all...
By the way, looks like the chieftain was designed with atmospheric landings in mind, much more space-plane-y than any other ship so far.
I think it's great that we're finally moving away from designs based on 1984 vector graphics. The chieftain looks awesome to me. I can't wait to try it.
