Second island struggles 😫

I got off to a pretty good start on the first island. 4.5 stars and of course I’ve unlocked the second island and I’ve had 5 attempts but every time I incubate raptors to try and get the guest numbers up and generate more money to really kick off they escape kill everyone and I end up -£1,000,000 in debt and have to start again. I’ve done that much on the second island despite restarting it that many times I’ve even unlocked the 3rd island.

Also, I’ve depleted all the areas for digging up fossils available to me, will the locked ones come available to me soon? How far down the line do you have to go to get T-Rex fossils? Thanks everyone

Hey there. I'd say try starting off Muerta with a few Dilophosaurs instead of raptors just to get you started as they don't go crazy when a storm hits! And when you put a new expedition centre on an island, you begin to unlock more dig sites. Once you get to the third island (Isla Tacano) and place an expedition centre down there, you will unlock dig sites where the Tyrannosaurus Rex fossils will be available to you.

I was in same boat on Muerta . I finally ditched the raptors for dilos. Just couldn’t keep them contained. They hate rain more than cats apparently.

When I had Velociraptors, I put another fence around the outside of the main fence to keep them contained if they ever broke out after a storm. It actually worked perfectly... but looked terrible.

Thanks for your help! 👍🏼

On the second island I stood with harmless grass eating dinos. That was safe and worked well. :)

One word: Ceratosaurus. High rated budget carnivores. They have a cushy comfort level meaning storms don't really affect them (does anything affect them? All mine have been well behaved), and adding two of them right away gets you a decent start. They are excellent starting dinos for all the islands really, and you can always go back and replace them with something better once you're established and have other dinos unlocked.

Also, yes, choose Dilos over raptors. The only islands it's safe to keep raptors on is Isla Tacano and Isla Matanceros, otherwise it's just a hassle keeping them comfortable on the stormy islands.

It also helps to keep your number of raptors small (no more than 2), build their enclosure as close to your ACU Center as possible, and upgrade your ACU Center with as many accuracy boosting and reload speed upgrades as possible. Also, as soon as you receive notice about a storm approaching, trank your raptors. Don't wait for the storm to hit. Trank them right away. Once the storm has passed, wake them up by transporting them (it doesn't matter where. You can just move them to another spot in the same enclosure, if you like).

But you will be doing that every half hour when a storm hits, better off keeping raptors on the calm islands unless you like the challenge of dinos rampaging lol

I have raptors on every island so far, always kept with a trex or Indominus. I do tranq them as soon as I get a storm warning however. The electrified concrete wall is also a great option. My Sorna has 5 raptors in a let with Indominus, they never break out during a storm and I only tranq the indom. Pro tip: put like 5 goat feeders with them. Keeps them busy

I second this. Ceratosaurus are easy to maintain, fairly cheap and have a great dinosaur rating. Also if you ever need a ratings boost, just hatch more so their social comfort drops, they'll fight and the victor will have a much higher rating.

I am on Tacano now. But when I was on Muerta I all I did was fill those two enclosures with some easy to keep herbivores. Like Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, Struthis and others. Matter of fact that's how you want to start out. Don't start with a bunch of hard to keep Carnivores, don't even bother with the Ratpors till later on. I made special enclosures for the Ankylosaurs like Chrichtonsaurs and I did the same for Dracorex. Cause they have social and populations issues that really suck. Put them by themselves in a medium/smallish enclosure. I find that works best. Cause they will breakout if they get low comfort.

You want to get some money coming in. I had five stars on Muerta for a few seconds once. I nearly have 5 stars now.

If I'm remembering my islands correctly, this is the island you get to where the builders were over zealous and the park isn't earning any income? If so, I went in and demo'd everything I didn't initially need, built up the funds, and used them to incubate the dinos I needed. Then I rebuilt the park to include all the features and functions as my profits grew.

actually that is isla Tacano, the third island.

You will need to eventually build raptors on Isla Muerta, but when you are done with them you can always sells them. Keep in mind that both Entertainment and Security require raptors.

Try putting them at the end of the maps as well as reinforcing the part closer to your guest. This means if they break out they have to break 2 fences, or they have to run a good distance to the guest. In addition do what others said and put an ACU and range station next to each other. Feel free to take control of the ranger station for quicker access. Also try putting a path( not connected to the actual path) next to the gate and smooth and flatten the ground allowing for quicker access, its all about the response time.

Psst...use your management view to check ypur shelter coverage and activate the shelters the moment you hear that Storms are forecast. You'll want to fit a good number of shelters in easy to access locations.

This does indeed work, combine this strategy with the weather building thing, that way you will have a higher chance of being informed of an incoming storm, giving you plenty of time tohit the alarms.

and the twisters scare me as well as the dilos.

Something I have noticed is when you hear a loud thunder, that usually signifies a twister is about to touch down somewhere. Well this is at least true for Isla Sorna.
