"Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning"

As a space explorer, it is natural to look at the view outside your cockpit, have something catch your eye, and think "I'd like to go there."

How cool would it be to be able to identify stars from the cockpit view, and select them as destinations? Sure would add a lot to the exploration experience. Too many times I've been out in the black and seen something compelling - a cluster or small nebula or something - and tried to match what I was seeing from the cockpit in the galaxy map, and coming up empty.

Would probably require activating a different mode akin to the FSS system scan if for no other reason than it would free up the cursor to pick objects in the starfield. Other than that I don't see how this would be that difficult to implement.

Please, please, pretty please with sugar on top :)

Itd be incredibly easy to do they could literally just implement as you said a similar FSS system and just have it select the star id from that, Now Consoles have been kicked to the curb and rightfully so yourd like to think they can start implementing some of the Micromanagement or increased controls that made PC games great in the first place but I honestly have concerns if anyone at Fdev even cares and if the majority of them arnt just turning up clocking in and going home without having any passion for the job.

I don't want to malign the motivation or "passion" of the developers as game development ultimately comes down to business decisions, but I'm similarly hopeful that a consolidation of effort around the PC platform will simplify the dev workflow such that they're able to build out some depth to the in-game experience. Having to effectively maintain dual development tracks with consoles had to be a drain. While it's unfortunate that this decision came at the price of alienating the console community I agree it was the right decision. ED never struck me as a good fit for console gaming to begin with.
