There was a lot of talk that some current PvP-oriented players might make things difficult for those playing for the first time on the 16th. Although this problem may have gone away with the no-wipe decision, I want to offer an alternative to those who would like to show that the new players are welcome.

Now that the jettison/abandon cargo distinction has been enabled, the first new player I meet in a Sidey after the 16th will be offered a full hold of the most expensive goods I am carrying (usually in the range 4000-6000Cr). The transaction will have to take place at a station as I am not going to pull them out of super cruise to make the offer, and I am aware that it may be treated with the sort of suspicion generated by offering sweets to children, but if enough people join in then maybe a new player knowing this will be inclined to accept my offer. I'm not saying what my Commander name is (hint: it isn't Googol) or where I am - hence the "Secret" in Secret Santa.
-
I know some other players have already said they would do something like this anyway, but does anyone else want to make their intentions clear so that new players are more likely to say yes?
-
Just a thought - does anyone know if abandoned cargo is flagged as such on the scanner? Would be good if it is as it would stop entrapment/accidents if cargo is jettisoned rather than abandoned.
