Secretive passengers and scanning.

Iv got a secretive passenger on my ship, not wanted, it just says getting scanned will greatly reduce passenger satisfaction. I got out of the station with no problems and I'm pretty sure I can get back in. My explora-conda isn't exactly fast so if I was to get scanned once is it instant fail or does it take multiple scans?

You almost certainly won't fail for being scanned once. I've been scanned once with a secretive passenger on board many times, and I think more than once a few times. Their satisfaction level does go down, but not low enough for them to quit. I think 'miserable' is the lowest level I've seen, but even that was short of firing me. Maybe it's possible to fail after one scan, but I think you'd have to be very unlucky indeed.

It usually takes 2 or 3 scans before the passenger throws a hissy-fit.

Last night I had a passenger who was secretive but then revealed that 4 people wanted her dead and offered me a bonus to destroy them.
I was flying my Python and the bandits were all in Sideys/Eagles so the fights didn't take long and I didn't see any "ship scan in progress" messages.
Even so, she lost the plot and ended-up leaving the ship.
presumably she was upset at being identified by all those people who died a few seconds later.

LOL, some people are really ungrateful.

I was carrying a secretive passenger through a high security system, who was scanned upon arrival at our destination, as in we were just getting in the mail slot when the scan completed. The mission didn't fail, but she was very angry. So I guess mileage varies.

Same thing happened to me, basically. It was the one and only time I was scanned on the mission, and it failed, as I was coming down to the docking pad.

Ungrateful harlot got a free ride.

So far he's happy. It also says hull damage will dramatically reduce satisfaction. I assume one hard landing will = fail. Scanned is just greatly reduce.

Well, you can bounce REALLY hard before it takes out a halfway decent shield. If you're landing hard enough to lose shield and a bunch of hull every single time, you may want to reconsider your docking maneuvers.

Also: silent running, heat sinks, and chaff, guys. I think chaff pauses the scan? And if you just silent-run every dock like a smuggler, it only costs 25 credits per sink. Seems pretty dang reasonable, to me. With the added bonus that even if you screw up, you don't get fined for contraband, the mission just fails.
