Security Scan on Foot Change

A suggestion for the security scan done by the guards when you are on foot to be changed so that instead of being attacked and accruing a fine just from moving front/back/side, the guards are triggered for "non compliance" if you move a certain distance away from them. This would help to stop the guards from being triggered if someone is mid jump while being targeted for a scan or for new players who do not know that simply walking towards the guard will trigger them.

I thought the stand still instruction was pretty easy to understand. But it is hard to do when you are in mid leap.

The suggestion does feel a little lenient for Elite though.

I was once targeted for a scan with an elevation difference and the guard had to walk away from me, up a ramp, then back around. Lo and behold, his pathing got stuck on another NPC researcher who was passing by. I tried to move towards him to get the scan over with and was attacked. I retaliated rightfully defended myself by annihilating everyone in that settlement and it felt therapeutically good :D

The moral of the story is, the system is not at all reasonable and neither should you be. Once PP 2.0 dropped, I was always carrying malware and E-breaches and would have been attacked on a scan anyway. I either blast their faces in or just maneuver around them. Remember that to trigger a scan, two conditions must be met:

1. The guard has entered your inner radar ring
2. You are in their line of sight

So basically, just be a bit more tactical in how you move and make sure you complete a visual ID if you see anybody so that they are permanently tracked on your radar. Prioritize turning off the alarm as soon as you land so things don't get hotter than you can handle.

I dunno, if I was sec for a settlement and there was some nonce pouncing about all over the place I think I'd shoot them just on principle. 🔫
This is my experience now that I've started landing at hostile settlements in undermining targets. Go in hot, walk out with more notoriety and more bounties stacked on me

On the other side, it's not a crime to evade a ship scan.

Either evading the on foot scan needs to be reined in to just result in a warning or something first time... or evading a ship scan from an authority should be a crime too.

The two put together creates a pretty incongruous experience.

I have previously suggested that there should be a "heightened alertness" state between "all is well" and "shoot the interloper" states.

If only they were a little more lenient, then I wouldn’t be forced to kill them, their loved ones and everyone they’ve ever known. Oh well 🤷‍♂️
