Dinosaurs General Gameplay Sedation System & Dinosaur Transport

Hey folks,

I think I've already posted it as part o another idea but the more I think of it, and flesh it out, the more I get convinced this is the funnest way to go: so here is "officially" my suggestion for those mechanics to be reworked. In a nutshell, this would mean two basic changes:
  1. Make dinosaurs able to awaken all by themselves, at any time, even during transport, by adding another stat cooked up for every animal to determine how long it will stay sedated.
  2. Change the default transport system to one by land, making the air transport researcheable, faster while a bit more expensive, but only for certain species, according to their weight.
So, first, the sedation system, as we are all aware, isn't satisfactory: dinosaurs should be able to awaken at any given point all by themselves. That's how it works in real life, that's how it worked in the novel, and certainly that's how it works in the movies, even in the JW series (just look at the Rex both in LW and FK). My suggestion, thus, is that among all those stats cooked up for each individual animal from their base genome and spliced DNA (as for instance the "Appetite", which apparently determines the amount of food needed by the animal, or the "Metabolism" which apparently determines "how fast the hunger bar drops") another stat cooked up from weight, metabolism, health level bar, stress level/enrage status and some static value for each species, gets implemented to determine the exact number of minutes a certain animal will stay sedated.

The land transport as default also makes a whole lot more sense for several reasons:
  • Is usually cheaper, so it would naturally be preferred by efficient managers.
  • Certain animals, specially those weighting several tonnes... well, it just feels wrong to see them soaring the way they currently do lol Even from island to island I'm pretty sure they would have chosen cargo boats as those shown in LW and FK to move them safely, at least for the big sauropods.
  • Given the possibility of the animal to randomly (or not so randomly) awaken, chances of more fun consequences would be reached by land: while airborne, their awakening would surely lead to some plane crash and possible death of the animal and the security and vet team; while traveling by land, this could very well imply another chance for it to flee and cause havoc, as well as the destruction of the vehicle and maybe part of the transport team. Right now, dinosaur transport just seems too convenient to make a fun gameplay at all.
  • Following the above, transport particularly dangerous and unpredictable animals such as raptors or rexes would also require the player to select an appropriate path, both short, fast and well away from guests, or else facing the possibility for it to awaken for quite a nice feast.
I think all of the above would provide some nice depth to the management aspect, because it also impacts on how the player needs to plan the enclosures and the Hammond Creation Labs and pretty much everything else, while also providing more ways in which chaos could unfold.

I'd want this for the smaller dinos like the raptors, dilos, pachys and ornithomimids, but what would we have for transporting sauropods? A huge truck? I think I actualy prefer the transport chopper even though it is a tad unrealistic!

Well, yes. Special towing, more likely, for Sauropods, you know

Although I'm just guessing both in the novel and in the first movies they were only prepared to move the younger ones. I think completely adult sauropods were not to be transported, but FK showed they can, because at least an Apatosaurus was saved. But still it is my belief that they would have been transported by land (only by sea between islands): this seems the most logical way, and the safest too, both for them and for the people around them.

So, land as default method of transport suits all dinosaurs, in my opinion.
