Ok my first thread start and my last post for a week, I am off to play ED 3.05 and have some fun while I wait for 3.9 on the 22nd. Reading all the rants about how the release version (that nobody outside \fd had seen yet) is not good enough, or how all the main features will be missing and on and on and on is just getting boring and annoying. SO see you in a week, oh and no need for replies cos I won't be back on this week to read them .....see you later. WHOOOSH.....

They don't just stick numbers onto builds for fun, 3.9 has to be a significant jump to 3.05. That's 3.1...3.2...3.3
I expect a lot of additions. Given how precisely this development has been undertaken, almost the perfection of game development..it is easy to imagine they gave us the features which needed mass testing, break proofing and smashing, while they could handle the rest without mass testing. They even said they wanted to get certain things done perfect in their vision. Such as why they chose combat first and the first alpha was all about combat and getting the flight model perfect. And this looks to be the same way they will develop the future expansions, such as walking around etc...they will iterate on it until it is perfect in their vision then release it and tweak it from there.
I have high hopes for December 16th, and I am eager for November 22nd.

This forum has become mostly indigerible over the last few days with so much whining and negativity... People can't even wait a few days and see how the game is gonna be once released, I'm afraid that whiners will keep whining all over the threads anyway though, whatever happens...
And then the polls say most backers / players are between 30 and 50 years old, or something like that!?? Just LOL... worse than small kids, I'd say....
See ya all next week, if this gets better... this forum was still quite enjoyable not too long ago... if it doesn't improve again, oh well, I will just enjoy the game more time instead...
If this is true FD will be the first company to truly surprise me. But I am a very cynical person and have rarely seen stuff like that happen. Wish i does though.

FD has always been very "relaxed" about the build numbers. Releases have always been referred to as .x or .0x interchangably (eg 1.06 was also often called 1.6 by the devs).
I'd think that it's most likely 3.9 is 3.09, which means it's the merge of 3.05 with a couple of other branch builds into a new trunk for release as a test for the upcoming Gamma 1.0/Beta 4.0 candidate.
