I was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice on how to start a new gaming group. I'd like to start a serious group for Elite Dangerous, but I have a few questions. And any additional advice will be GREATLY appreciated.
- When starting a new group, for any game, do you just post a thread on their forums? I know there is a thread on here for it, but does anyone ever go to Facebook? Or recruit in other ways? I'll be honest, i'd prefer to not post gaming stuff on my personal facebook.
- Older, established groups have more power in recruiting. Doesn't the infancy of a group negatively impact its own recruitment ability? Who really wants to join a brand new group? Isn't everyone only interested in the biggest and best that already exists?
- How do you handle, mitigate, adapt to potentially high turn-over rates of group members? In a perfect world, I wish I could meet people who shared my vision and would take it as seriously as I do. (within reason). that being said, I'm sure I'll have people join, but not be too serious about it and just flake out.
I've been seriously considering starting one, and not just for fun. I'd like to get in the theatrics and role playing aspect of living out a character within a new faction in Elite Dangerous.
What are some efficient methods of recruiting? What should I expect during that process? What do I need to be successful at starting a group? How should i prepare beforehand to improve my chances of success and having a lasting presence for my group?
