"Seeking Luxuries" - Frontier get rid of them for goodness sake!

"Seeking Luxuries" - Frontier fix them for goodness sake!

So I, and others, have now spotted these popping up, 2mins flight away from stations!

You can now get well over 1000CR per ton profit in less than 5mins. Worse still it's dumbing down the game play (even more)! A minute SC out.... A minute SC back...

Has the expectation for deep/interesting game play come down to this?

At least with standard trading you have to seek out trading routes periodically. But this (while they last) seems very silly...

Please let's dial them back and make them less frequent and last for shorter periods.

EDIT: Michael has commented in V1.1 this mechanic is being adjusted.

Its a game mechanic they make NO sense at all. Now if they had something like that, which would buy stolen goods at the galactic average, I'd be happy.

Easy mode people have chimed in, but when a game is multiplayer, gimping yourself is never a good option.

Can you attempt to at least justify their existence somehow logically?

I made about 5 million off one yesterday before I just felt dirty and left. So I don't use them, and while people who can't fly in Anacondas is amusing to me, it should at least require some competence to get.

I'm wondering, with the recent sale in LHS 3447 and good trading in certain locations, if they are intentionally trying to concentrate large numbers of players in a few locations to test their multi-player code.

I think its just a place holder.

I've seen them go from no shields, to shields and now they more often than not have escorts. They seem to be tied in to the smuggler dynamic. So it look slike a work in progress. It wont be around for too long and frankly I quite like a break from the grind while I garner some funds to get ready fro some expensive deaths when wings is out. I doubt they'll be around much longer, in a same way that rares got dealt with. This seeking luxuries is getting us to trade with other ships an not just stations. Give it time.

Don't use them. Not that hard.

Let me guess.... Your inspired view of Elite & Dangerous NPCs in their shieldless (& shield cell less) Anacondas and the like is not to get Frontier to improve/resolve the issue, but for us all not to shoot them?

It's like a farcical final nail in a game play coffin :( Are your expectations so truly low you're happy with it?

People have been caning trade tools since day one that basically tell you exactly where to go and what to buy/sell.

At least with this there is a requirement to do a bit of exploring.

Its been like this for about 2 weeks ? They are bit common, but really its not that huge of an issue, they do time out, if people want to grind some credits, i say live and let live, i did a couple of runs to one that was 1.38ls away in my t7, got bored and docked it, back to exploring the populated systems B-hunting and some small trades. :D

I hope you're right... But it's a bit of a farce in the meantime :(

Doesn't seem all that bad. You make credits faster, "boom" times it is.

I see the traders as a risk/reward thing, and this is dessert for trading. Other times you might get interdicted and blown up. That kind of balance rationalises why there are even profits to be made. If it were too easy to trade, the price differences 'should' be negligible and it wouldn't be worth it. If it were too hard, no one would do it.

I most definitely know I've seen traders complaining about combat, so this is just the other side of the spectrum.

These have been around since at least Beta, Type-9s wanting to buy various goods away from the stations. Completely reasonable game mechanic, if you don't like it then don't use them.

So a type 9, less than 1ls from a station, buying whats sold AT that station for a 650k profit per run from another type 9, is reasonable?

I think they should be some variation so they don't just take one commodity but could request different commodities and certainly shouldn't request commodities that are locally available.

I still dont understand why people ask to nurf things that dont affect them... so what if people are making 1000cr/ton.. its still not THAT good of a profit if it takes you 5 min a run to go buy, reload, and get back to them.. you can find trade routes that pay out double that pretty easily...

and again.. who cares?! there is no direct affect to you as a player, if another player decided he wants to sit for 23 hours grinding credits within the solar system..

Yes, as long as you're prepared to be blown up or pirated.

True, if only there was a way you could turn off other players, and then come back to multiplayer mode when you were done making money.

That would be cool.

I could take the "Sponsored by Performance Enhancers" sticker off the side of my Conda...
