Seeking luxuries gone?

I've been spending a lot of time in a system that had multiple Seeking Luxury instances. Today I logged in, stocked up on performance enhancers in my new Type 6, and headed out of the station. I didn't look in the locations list because things like Resource Extraction Sites and Seeking Luxuries aren't always listed when in dock. To my surprise, I get out of the station and can't find any Seeking Luxuries in the system. Did a basic scan, still nothing. Headed to the old location, and they're definitely gone. Is this expected? Are others seeing the same issues? Is it a bug, just expected behavior, bad luck on my part, etc.? Thoughts?

Thanks!

The system you're in is probably experiencing an economic downturn. I believe (but I may be wrong) that the Seeking Luxury traders spawn when the system is in economic boom.

Ive seen several today. They hang in systems that are booming i would think. Where ever there is a lot of commerce they have a chance to appear. No need for them to be at a place that doesnt see a lot of trading.

never figured how to use them? seeing them a lot in any na, lave, zaonce etc though

Load up on performance enhancer, and then move really close. Your goods get automatically removed, and you get a pretty good amount of Credits.

Fun cheat-pirate trick: The traders don't defend each other, and if you pirate one of them, you can take their performance enhancers, which the other trade ships happily accept, even when stolen.

I found that I didn't really earn all that much selling to them. (from 940 - 1020 profit per tonne).
No more than I get normal decent traderoutes

Seeking luxuries is still around at V1688 Aquilae but like Captain said above, after I bothered taking a look I was making more credits on gold runs, so they only pay if they are real near to some performance enhancers.

To Maverick: just a thought, but a scan wouldn't reveal them anyway, would it? I believe the discovery scanners only find astronomical bodies.

they only really make money when "real near" is measured in mega meters from a station that sells performance enhancers for rock bottom prices.

Firing up your fsd for even one jump wastes too much time, and your profits drop through the floor due to the time spent on a return trip with an empty cargo hold.

Thanks. Will have to finds another system close by top offload my cargo. It made sense before because they were only 3LS from the station.

So performance enhancers is it? How should you know from "Seeking luxuries"?

I had a ship ask for modules... how can I pick out which modules he may have?

The Seeking Luxuries (3 of them) in the system I am based at the moment have changed to low intensity conflict zones this afternoon.

2 * 0% factions are fighting each other in a boom system.

It happened this afternoon.

It was amusing to see the Luxuries traders in the conflict zone but when I went back they were gone so there goes my trade route. Hope the conflict is over soon and they return.

Use a cargo scanner to see what they have. You have to get close and be ready to chase them, because they will burn off when you scan them.

There's 4 in HR 1257, which also has two stations that sell performance enhancers. easy money.#

Also, if your trigger finger gets bored of running performance enhancers from station to smugglers...there's a system one jump away (SPOCS 208) with about a half dozen conflict zones - between two independent factions, so you don't have to dirty your record with any of the big powers.
