Seeking Luxuries?

I see these contacts from SC or in the navigation panel on occasion, and I saw a thread a while back saying they can be very profitable. Go to station, buy luxuries, SC to "Seeking Luxuries" and they want to trade.

How do I interact with them? I thought I read that you just fly close with luxuries in your hold and they'll offer to buy them. I actually bumped into one, I flew so close. Nothing.
How do I know what they want to buy? They just spout random stuff about buying and selling luxuries. Which ones? I tried coffee, tea, meat, beer, wine, liquor, leather, natural fabrics, consumer electronics, domestic appliances. Everything I could find at local stations that looked like it had a "luxuryness" about it. Once, one of the Lakon 9 Luxury Traders was green, but still nothing.
I'm obviously missing something. How do I make contact?

Load up on Performance Enhancers and they'll buy them for 7545cr each.

AFAIK, they're after "Rares"... take a look on the forum for some rare trading routes. A number of selected stations sell rare goods (in small quantities, of course!)

Buy some rares, travel to a station that's "Seeking luxuries", and sell for PROFIT.

The further away you fly from the origin, the better the price you get for them... so ideally buy good around 160LY from where you sell them for top money.

I'm currently trading rares, making ~ 2-3 M Cr per circuit. I had TONS of the stuff! Different kinds!

Find a High Tech station which sells Performance Enhancers and has a Seeking Luxuries signal <2Ls from the station and then join the endless procession of players all doing the same run

No, they are not. And you don't need to sell rares in any particular system, the price of rares is determined by distance from the system of origin only - any station over 160 LY away will pay the same.

Umm, I'm not sure this is the case or at least it didn't happen with me. So far all I've been able to trade with Seeking Luxuries traders has been Performance Enhancers.

They are after Performance Enhancers only. I got a ship that asked me for modules, but wouldn't buy any... I guess it's looking for grain.
