Seeking Precipitated Alloys USS source: help?

I've been looking for Precipitated Alloys from USS sources as I'm avoiding combat.

Would anyone have any idea where to find these things?

Inara seems to think they exist, but I've been just about everywhere it seems like. I tried System States: War, Famine, Civil War, and Retreat.
I also tried Missions and just camping different industry types.

I've found enough for 2 Grade 4 Low Emission Shield upgrades from Lei Cheung. Unfortunately I've only unlocked to Grade 3.

Going on Day 6 now of continuous searching... I love RNG.



If anyone knows a sane life-not-wasted method of acquiring these that doesn't involve combat please reply?

I've found enough for 2 Grade 4 Low Emission Shield upgrades from Lei Cheung. Unfortunately I've only unlocked to Grade 3.

Precipitated alloys are the Lvl3 low power shield, you are thinking thermic alloys for lvl4.

If all you are wanting them for is to get up the levels to get to grade 5, you can use the other shield upgrades or the boosters as throwaways.

Join a combat zone where a player is killing ships and gather the materials as they drop from the "military ships" being destroyed?

Yep. I spend quite a lot of time in CZs. I ignore precipitated alloys now as they're so common.
