Every now and again when I'm zoomed in on a multi body system in the FSS the view starts rotating about the central mass. I think it's always when I'm scanning the planets around a secondary star but I couldn't swear that I've never seen it for a planet with multiple moons.

Does that happen to everybody and has anybody worked out if it signifies anything or if it's just a mildly irritating glitch?

It happens when you're zoomed in but you've moved quite far away from the zoom-in point. If it's moving so fast that you're having trouble hitting targets, it's usually a sign that you don't need to be zoomed in that far and you can step a zoom level out to be more stable.

Do you remember when the FSS was first introduced and it would occasionally glitch out by skewing sideways and becoming unreadable? I believe this "slight rotation when zoomed in" effect is a side-effect of the solution to this problem.
