Selecting Primary Port Location?

Is that because although the outpost has finished building it hasn’t been activated by the weekly tick?
Can we actually build more than one thing at a time?
it seems it was a bug, it was fixed once the servers came back online today again after some outage

Mine was too but how far did it read that last body as being from the entry star? In my case it was only something like eight light seconds.

Oh damn!
I was wrong about mine too. I forgot I had jumped my carrier over to where the port was being constructed, so it read 8ls away, which is just how far that body was from my carrier that I was parked on lol. I'm about 2500ls out. I really hope we get a chance to move the primary port, once, for free. Each time after could cost $$ or resources, I wouldn't mind.

My goal was to have the first primary port on the first body's ringed, at atmospheric ice planet. Then, have the second one on the last body's, ringed, neon, tenuous atmospheric planet, as well as my ground site being there.

I was thinking "oh look, there is a nice little metal rich close to the system entry point, that's where it'll be. Or maybe at the colonisation beacon.

Reality: at the dual gas giant with rings 49k Ls away from the entry point.
But that made me learn to fly SCO with heatsinks.

49k Ls... I wish!
The system I'd like to get is a binary, with a Water World and 4 HMC planets close by the primary component.
With 82 orbital slots and 128 planetary slots to pick from, the obvious choice is... <wait for it...>
Planet 13 of the secondary, 56k Ls out. It's not the furthest planet though, there is one more worthless iceball further out.
Does it start at the outside and work in or something? Because the WW and about half the HMCs around the primary don't have any orbital slots at all.

I had a system with 2 stars, one 500kls away, and was lucky that the initial port location was on the first body of the first star, 15ls from the star.
