Selectively Dropping Items from Backpack

OK, I give up.

I'm standing outside my SRV trying to board. I get the message that storage is full, with the option of an emergency backpack dump.

I back out of that and now I want to selectively drop items from my backpack to meet storage requirements. How do I do that?

Tried the insight menu but it won't give me a drop option.

Manage your inventory until the stuff you want to keep is in your ship and the stuff you are happy to lose is in your backpack. Then board. Don't forget your consumables, everything counts!

To drop the items, open your backpack and browse it normally: when you want to drop an item, highlight it and then select it (space bar by default), the option to select how many units you want to drop should appear.

When I am in that situation, I manage inventory and try to transfer the items I do want into the SRV. If there is no space, I transfer items from the SRV to the back pack that I can do without. When everything that I want is transferred, I either do the emergency dump or preferably access the backpack via the wheel, access the item and select to drop. More controllable that way.

Not sure what I was doing wrong before but the spacebar drop function seems to be working for me now. PBCAK, no doubt.
