Engineers Selenium hunt getting tiresome

I want to get into this update, but I have been hunting for selenium for too many hours for it to be considered fun anymore! Been to planets, asteroid belts and google!

This randomness doesnt feel balanced to me at all! :(

I've seen it offered as a mission reward. Got in the habit now of checking missions everywhere I dock for rareish materials and commodities.

Thanks guys but tried all of these. I think the issue is that its randomly generated in even potentially available locations. A run of bad luck and you could be waiting around a long time! Whilst that may be realistic, its not exaclty conducive to riveting gameplay!

Se is a level 3 mat.
I have found it on 25% of all the planets I have prospected (mostly Icy bodies but not sure that is important).
Guess you have been RNG'ed like I have with As (also level 3 but I only found 1 source)

Is level 3 easy or hard to find?

just been to HIP 38531 AB1...found lots of selenium and arsenic in the outcrops.
I went to the towards the edge of the inside of the largest crater.....lots of cargo and skimmers to have aswell

Found tons of it on Deciat 7B while I was on a futile hunt for Arsenic.

There's 5 levels of materials. And planets can drop more than one level 3. But that doesn't mean they're equal. I've been on a planet where I found four of 1 of them and 15 of the other. The game seems to *know* which blueprint you're aiming for and depriving you of the element you want. I have so much Tin right now I could open a war time tin cup factory. And it's a level 4.

I think it's the same as Specialised Legacy Firmware, which doesn't seem to exist anywhere for me - not data points, not private beacons, not missions. I've actually been looking for selenium too, to no avail.

I am, however, giving up for a while because the nanobreakers and modular terminals I had in my hold last night (after spending 4 days looking for them) have mysteriously disappeared today (yes, I've opened a ticket). I can't take the risk of putting anything in my hold in case support try to restore them, and given that it takes days for them to respond to tickets...I guess I'm not playing the game until then.

Perhaps they'll have sorted out the item drop distribution by that point, too.

For real?! Selenium is found in boatloads on most ice planets! Which, coincidentally, is what makes them terrible sources for other mats...

Deciat 7b got me 8 units in less than an hour. Just went to a big crater and looked for metallic rocks. Stickied post in this sub forum told me all I needed to know.

I mined some in Ross 955, first thing I found in belt around planet there, didn't even realise it was important as wasn't looking for it at the time. Just got to be patient and stop looking for it, just keep playing the game until it comes to you.

Try Beta Caeli (anarchy industrial outpost only). On moon A 3 d.

I found selenium there along with vanadium, antimony, tungsten, cadmium along with a scattering of other stuff.
