Selenium location Beditjari A4C

For those looking for Selenium, a better place than most with the following cavaets. It is not the primary drop at Geological sites as that is Tellurium, it can however be found with lower Crystalline types, in particular I have had it drop woth Crystalline Fragments. This, however means that it has a chance to drop alongside other materials, so even though Selenium is 4.2% it might take some time to collect.Screenie attached.

Currently looking at EDDB. It would appear that Selenium only appears with other Grade 4 materials on any planet, this means that it cannot drop as a Biological or from Needle Crystals, only as Crystalline Fragments and thats pot luck alongside other Grade 2/3 materials. I have had better luck with larger sites and Ice Magma. My current criteria is Icy Panets with vulcanism and choosing Ice Magma and large sites ie. 20 or above. If anyone knows if you can find planets with Selenium and no Techtinium, Ruthenum, Tellurium or Antimony and Yttrium. That would be ideal. so can anyone write a script pulling down, if any planets no other Grade 4 materials? Then we are all on a winner.
Otherwise its going to be this : Find sites with high Selenium i.e 4.0%+ with volcanic activity (Ice Magma top of the drops?) on icy worlds with large Geological sites ie 20+ and mine Crystal Fragments only.

Try surface prospecting using the scanner, for mesoderite on icy worlds. I've been to Prthi 2a several times having traded down Selenium from full, to about 75/150 and filled it back up again in about 60-90 mins. Not to mention all the other stuff I picked up, it's also a good spot for cadmium, molybdenum, antimony.

Thanks for the heads up and I am sure you do well, however I do not have the knack or the patience to go looking across a whole planet without pointers.

The problem is still the same; Selenium only exists alongside other Grade 4 minerals and therefore is not a primary item. Whether by design, which I suspect or bad programming there is no body in the database which has only Selenium as the 'A' grade 4 mineral. If anyone finds one such body please share!

There are three separate raw material grades in use, for historical reasons, but only the "economic" scheme is used to determine the material icons.

Selenium is Grade 4 on the economic grading scheme used by material traders, but Grade 2 on the geological grading scheme used for determining which materials appear in which planetary contexts. It is Grade 3 in the engineer grading scheme used to determine the content of Engineer blueprints. (Unlike the other two schemes, the engineer grading scheme has five grades for raw materials, rather than four)

So you'll never find a planet with Selenium as a "Grade 4" - it's always a Grade 2.

If rather than collecting from geological sites you just drive around on empty bits of the planet and shoot loose rocks, this means you can actually get Selenium much faster than the other "economic G4" materials. (On the right planet, this can actually be quicker than geological sites even for geological G4 materials ... if you get lucky)

Thanks for reply and for your considerable knowledge. Still screwy, especially as I do not have the time to go running around the blank bits on a planet looking for Selenium. Still wish it was simplied to being a Grade 4 and not as messed up as this implies, it might make sense in one way, in game geology lol, but not in terms of actually getting the damn element. Thank you once again for the insight. Frontier - PLEASE Simplify lol...

I load up at Crystalline Shards and then trade for the Selenium. Have all the raw mats pretty well filled up that way. Takes 2 trips out to top everything off.
