Selenium storage error?

Element grades are a bit messed up atm. Selenium s a G4 at the engineers and in the field. It's G2 at the mat trader. There aren't supposed to be G5 elements anymore. But it's still common as dirt so you can find heaps and trade it for anything else fairly easily.
It's even more messed up with mining mats in rings.
I wonder if FD are trying to make as many players as possible hate mining, so when they replace it later in the year, no one will complain.
