Self-Addressed Envelope?

It's always bugged me about missions that the counterparty for 'deliver this' or 'courier this' often is an 'enemy' faction in a nearby system, rather than the originating faction's branch office in that target system.

Today, in one of my chosen faction's (not a PMF) home system/ports (faction currently in Boom) every mission I see within that system and to other nearby systems where the same faction also has a presence, the counterparty faction is always that same faction. Where a mission is to a system they have no presence in then it's (hopefully obvoiusly!) to a different counterparty.

I wonder if other CMDRs are seeing the same? Perhaps this is just a local anomoly. I do hope it's an indication of a positive BGS change post 3.3. It makes far more sense for my Industrial located faction to send out Clothing, Domestic Appliances, Mineral Extractors and Crop Harvesters to its sister affiliate locations in neighbouring systems, rather than shoring up their rivals, as has typically been the case to date.

It's a local anomaly as far as I can see. All the missions here are to arbitrary factions.

Just note though, your use of the terms "rivals" and "enemy factions" isn't entirely correct. They're *your* enemies and rivals, not necessarily those of the faction you support though, remembering you aren't actually part of that faction. The closest you can get is being part of a squadron comprised of IPF Commanders who have pledged allegiance, noting additionally that pledging allegience to an entity doesn't necessarily afford anything, even recognition as persona grata, nor does it prevent you supporting other factions.

There's no definition of relationships between factions in the game... they're all just entities for the purposes of semi-random delivery targets.

Yes, I understand that, but after four years of supporting the same faction (not player created faction, and not using the new squadrons feature) I still feel some proprietorial 'ownership', chiefly because it (the faction) would not have expanded to nine other systems but for my efforts. Ingrates. :)

I would personally prefer it if there was a bias in selecting the third-party mission beneficiary to be of the same superpower affiliation and/or the same Ethos. It doesn't make sense that a Federation Democracy is sending vitally needed supplies to assist an Anarchy faction in a neighbouring system which is also ruled by a Federal Democracy.

This is a bug reported for years. FD don't care. And fanboi would try to find a reason why it is half-baked implemented.

Do like others, don t take it. Which is more difficult with no more board flipping.

Why would this be considered a bug? In a galaxy where inter-system travel is quick and easy it makes sense that Factions have relations and trade with their neighbours. An insular Faction that refused to deal with others would soon wither and die.
