Sell All Exploration Data [DWE Request]

As many of you may already know about the Distant Worlds Expedition, this request is for all 1,000+ CMDRS. Whom i think would agree that this feature would be something of a godsend when they get back to the bubble with some 130,000+ Light Years worth of data to sell. If not now, i think on day 2 or day 3 of data selling they would really want this feature.

The request is quite simple, have an option to "Sell All Exploration Data"

NOTE: For the concern of selling all data at once can overload the server, the simple method would be to queue the sold data over a period of time. I would much rather let the data be sold automatically then to sit and click for days. This way i can alt tab and do other things while i wait, or even the ability to sell your data then continue on with what ever it is you are doing in game. You could then get a message in game letting you know your data has been processed and you can head back to the system you sold your data to pick up your Credits and view the "First Discovered" and other data information.

Looking at it purely from a data transaction point of view, I doubt that FDev would be able to implement it. Submitting 20 systems at a time was added at the request of the community. Why not 50 or 100 at a time instead of all data?

Not to mention the race to sell the data for the most interesting systems they've found, would become quite protracted otherwise. Yes to this!

Yeah it's the transactions servers that'll be the issue here. It has to make sure the data is accurate and recorded correctly. It's better doing that in smaller chunks that aren't likely to hit issues before completing than have one massive batch that regularly fails to go through. Would be nice but harder than you'd first think to implement without creating issues.

Yeah, I think the way to go is have a "Sell All" button that actually just does the equivalent of pressing "Sell Page" repeatedly while there's still valid stuff left to sell. That way the servers still see lots of nice little transactions, and if any of them fail the client can just skip that page and leave it in the list at the end.

Although for what it's worth, when I went to 65k and back I was only selling data for an hour or so I think? Just over 200 pages in total.
DW will likely be a bit more than that for most people due to shorter jump ranges and people doing more "local exploration" around the waypoints, but probably still only 300-400 pages.

Whilst I agree that we should be able to sell our data faster. It could become a though moment if 100+ ppl all sell there data at the same time. Idk much about server strain but I'm sure the first discovery part could slow those servers down alot and nobody wants that. I think upping the limit from 20 systems per page to maybe 50 tops.

But a Sell all button I really don't want. At least not with the current server strength.

Selling exploration data has been a sore point for Explorer's since before the game released. People have posted "FIX THIS NOW!!1!11!" posts for just as long. Yet I have not seen FD respond to any of this. If FD has addressed this topic then please post the source so that I may analyze it with a fake microscope wishing and hoping that it has what I would like to "hear".

So my questions to FD:
1) Do you see the method by which Explorer's sell information as an issues to be addressed?
2) If yes, what is the direction you are looking at to remedy the situation? If no, what is the reasoning behind the decision to have it as it is? This is an honest question as maybe there is some core element to game play that I am missing.
3) If it is "on the list" then are we talking about this quarter, next quarter, 3 years from now? Something that stays on the list forever is not actually on a list.

That should be easier. The more I think about it, even adding a "Sell All" would only be a stop-gap fix. What if I want to sell half to Imperial systems and half to Federation (to boost my rep in both)? If my only options are "Sell this page" and "Sell All" I'm no better off.

So yes, more flexibility, such as selecting how many to display/sell per page would be very useful.

It's a simple client-side fix that requires no server side changes (I think this is what Armored was suggesting) -

- EDClient enumerates full list of exploration data items
- CMDR clicks a new 'Sell All' button
- EDClient displays a progress bar, an Abort button, and sells first item
- EDClient repeats until all items are sold or the Abort button is pressed

Of course, I'm sure we'd rather they focused on bug fixes, but this shouldn't be a difficult addition to slip in with the Q2 updates...

I'd also like a Sell All button. It would be really nice if it automatically saved all the info in a log file for later reference.

I do like this idea. I agree a sell all button. But I think I remember there was a reason why they do it by page vs Sell all. But a Dev going to have to correct me on this.
