Ship Builds & Load Outs Sell equipment and upgrades before trade-in?

When you attempt to purchase a new ship and use the old one as a trade-in is there any sort of depreciation on the installed upgrades? Is it recommended to sell off all your upgrades before completing a trade-in or is it just as economical to let the Ship Purchase UI do the math for you?
 
When you trade in the ship as it is, you get a 10% loss for the whole of it. If you sell off modules first, you get full price for them and the 10% loss only applies to the barebone ship that's left after that. At one point that will change, but hopefully not before we get module storage. With the current system, a 10% loss on everything every time severely harms refitting and experimenting.
 
Ok, good to know! But yeah, I agree. Module storage would be wonderful. I detest having to sell a rare item that I know I will have to make a long trek to repurchase (if I can remember where I got it). So dumb.

Also, can you swap modules from one ship to another? Or is the only way to do that is to sell it, equip the other ship, and then repurchase it?
 
Dont we loose 10% even on modules? Im pretty sure we loose something. When I was experimenting with C4 canon and C4 PA I was swapping them out every other day and I am pretty sure I lost money, maybe I am wrong tho.

I would love some kind of storage mechanism though.. even if we had to pay per ton of storage. And shipping costs if we want to have them moved between stations, or use your own cargo space to haul them. I like testing C3 Gimballed beam lasers, but everyone knows they are bloody hard to find. So when I take them off my ship, I wont have to worry about permanently loosing them.

No, there's no cost to selling modules (yet). But the game remembers if you bought modules with a price reduction to begin with, and you'll only get that back.
