Sell off modules separately on ship change?

I recall somebody saying when you sell your ship, sell your modules separately, or lose the cash - but that was probably addressed long ago, right? I'm just about to sell my beloved Sidewinder and I didn't want to present the shipyard with gucci gifts gratis galore.

You don't lose the cash for the modules, but, in outfitting, you get paid 100% of the purchase price when you sell. In Shipyard, it's only 90%. So by selling modules in the outfitters before selling the ship, you avoid losing 10% of the cost of the modules.

Admittedly it's a minor point, but I enjoy selling off all the old modules as part of the process of upgrading my ship.

(Looking forward to not having to Upgrade but Buy Another in the future). :)

Warning! Don't sell off all your ship's equipment and then try and upgrade to a new ship when you have mission cargo in your hold. It won't let and you.

Then you have to decide whether to abort the mission and take the rep hit or reload your old ship and complete the mission.

Lift that head back up, Commander - you Beta testers (and Alphas) are owed a debt of gratitude by the rest of us for all the testing. :)

I wouldn't have even asked the question if it wasn't something that had been mentioned during testing.

Yep, confirmed. I just sold my stored Cobra.

To sell the equipped ship straight from the shipyard was 1.6M credits. I swapped to the Cobra, sold (or downgraded) every module I could and swapped back again. When I then sold the ship my cash was over 100k more than it would have been from the direct sell.
