Sell the Cobra IV and other revenue stream ideas...

So, I was pondering the new Cobra MKV and I thought about the IV. It seems forgotten. It's been how long as an exclusive ship for pre-purchasing Horizons? I thought, what if they offer it as an ARX ship to anyone who wants it? Make the payout lower, equivalent to the cost of a ships skin. For the record, I have access to it.

But then I thought, who'd want it? It's slow, has a standard FSD drive... 🤔 What if, for maybe a little more, you can add enhanced SCO drive compatibility! For that matter, extend this to every ship in the game! So many cool ships are falling by the wayside because the convivence of the SCO makes the lack of it less desirable. I get that the new ships early access is a good way to generate revenue and this could take away from that... But if you limited the purchase to a specific ship, that could be a way to limit it, if you have it on a Krait MKII and you sell that ship, you can only transfer it to another Krait MKII.

I don't know, just a thought. So many ships seem to be going the way of the Asp Scout... Doomed to collecting dust at the dealer's lot with little practical value. The SCO ships are just so much more fun to fly that I hate to get into a ship that wasn't built for it. Running down signal sources or mission running beyond to 20,000ls is more engaging with the SCO.

I have the Mk4 and I would not in the least mind them selling it.

For my part, it's long since gone beyond what I would expect for exclusivity. I don't care if it can be bought for Cr.

But if they want to respect 'exclusive', I really don't think ARX is a bad call.
If they let 'exclusive' age into 'free with Deluxe/pre-order/etc' it would still respect the current owners club.

Also, selling an SCO conversion hull/armour would be a good thing. Or even SCO-versions of existing ships - like Sidewinder SCO.

Nah. I just missed out on it originally because of lack of funds and I'll admit it used to irk me that I could never unlock all the ships in the shipyard, but after blowing up many as assassination targets, etc. over the years since, I'm reminded everytime what a lemon it is. With the release of the Mk5, it's even more irrelevant so might as well let those that pre ordered Horizons keep their exclusivity... for what little it's worth.

Mk5 is already the answer to OP. Mk4 is locked in a promise, quit asking.

Regarding other revenue streams: Bring back all the deleted paintjobs and stuff. What on earth is going through the heads of this marketing management? On yesterday's stream I hear them, almost as if rolling their eyes, going like "oh alright, you guys been screaming all the time, so we're bringing back gold and chrome and black." There is a whole lot your designers were putting in more work than these cost to make, and wouldn't cost a penny to continue selling now. Geez.

Sell a prebuilt MK IV in a core mining set up.

Simple as, as it's an arx special and not purchasable for credits. Keeps all the "exclusive" clause intact (specifies buying it in the shipyard) whilst allowing those that would like to access the ship the chance.

Again ?? That's why they are bringing out the mk 5 🤦‍♂️. What part of a promise do people not understand ?? I was less than 2 weeks off getting a mk IV but I would fully support Fdev not giving the mk IV to anyone who missed it be it they weren't born yet or whatever reason. I'm begining to understand how a few of the long term forum PC players feel when I mention consoles .....

Regarding SCO compatibility upgrades, that's not a bad idea. They could add some retrofit engineers. I suppose they could sell the modification for arx but I'd prefer to upgrade my ships by actually playing the game instead of opening my wallet.

Let's get real, with the Mk5 soon out for release there is no reason now for FD to break the Mk4's exclusivity.

What makes it better is that the Mk5 is an improved MK4 with none of the latter's weaknesses.

I'd be fine with them releasing the MK4 to all, maybe give the oldies a exclusive Cobra Skin like how old horizons players got the Azure Paint job!

That's probably what should've happened to begin with, but you know what they say about hindsight... I don't really care either way, if I had a choice between the Mk4 and the Mk5 at shipyards, guess which one I'm not choosing? But, if players still want their exclusive rights after all this time, it's not really worth the uproar it would cause to change it.

I have a Cobra IV by accident as Frontier decided that my LEP equivalent entitled me to it, whereas they’ve decided that I’m not entitled to the time limited exclusives.

Frontier, consistent? Hmm …
