Newcomer / Intro Selling a Ship

Getting conflicting info on this.

If I sell my 100M Python what would I get for it? 90% of the total or 90% of the hull and all the modules at their original purchase price?

I wished I knew that before I started test driving ships. I bought a t-10, didn't like it, then bought a beluga, returned it. And looked at my bank balance afterwards and started to cry and was wondering why my credits went

If you want to make the least loss on ship sales remove and sell or store all the non-core modules, then replace all the core modules with the smallest E rated ones available saving the Power Plant for last. That way you are losing 10% of the price of the cheapest modules.

If you've engineered any modules consider storing them rather than selling. Because when you sell an engineered module you lose all the materials and that module with its engineered mod may come in handy in the future.

Just thought I'd amplify with an extra tip for new commanders...

If there is no E-rated version of a core module available - just store the module because that forces its replacement with an E rated one (even though they say there isn't one for sale).

This is also valid if you're stranded at a correctional facility and you have equipped your ship with an undersized FSD (e.g. a size 3 FSD in the size 4 slot of the Cobra). You can always get the largest size E-rated FSD for your ship by storing your current module.
