Engineers Selling Cart Data and Commodities to Engineers - Does It Really Add Any Additional Access?

I had a bunch of accumulated Cartography Data that I decided to sell to Farseer instead of a random station. It was close to a million credits worth but I didn't see any detectable change to anything regarding my Grade 5 access.

I've done the same with various Engineer based commodities that I have left over after an upgrade session.

So... I was wondering if there is any tangible advantage to selling this stuff to Engineers vs just selling it off at my next station visit. Where ever that may be.

Thanks in advance!

For Engineers that have Universal Cartographics available you can actually increase your rep with them by selling the data at their Engineering bases. This was the case with Elivira and Felicity and you could get to Grade 3 with around 1.5 million or so of data, Grade 5 was much harder to get with exploration data however as the progression slowed dramatically. Same with Engineers who have Commodities available, you can sell commodities to raise your rep. Currently however the mats are trivially easy to get for the low-mid level mods and it isn't very efficient to use exploration data to progress but it was useful when 2.1 first launched and some of the mats were harder to find. Since you've already reached Grade 5 there is no more rep to progress with them so there's no real point in selling them the data, but it would have been useful if you had just unlocked them and wanted to increase your rep.

It works on myside. By the way, 1M cartographic data is not much.

Works how?

What change do you see by doing this? That is my question.

And if 1 million in Cart data isn't much in his regard, then that is likely why I am not seeing whatever this mystery improvement in access is. ;) I don't do a lot of exploring, so that amount of Cart data took me a long time to accumulate, so again, sounds like the advantages of selling this to an Engineer isn't going to benefit me to any noticeable degree.
