Selling Data & Puzzled by Profit

Evening All,

I've sold my data from my recent trip and have a few questions...

Universal Cartographics Data Sorting

Is the data along with the data on the page sorted in any particular order? To me it didn't seem like it and I can't work out what order it is in nor for the life of me why it does get sorted either alphabetically or in the order you collected it. Makes it very difficult to find any systems you have specific interest in to see what particular stars or objects are worth. Especially as once it's sold you can't access any type of report though the game or via the Elite: Dangerous website.

Profit Made

I'm able to calculate two different profits returned from the data I've just sold: -

Before: -

After: -

Now, if I use my Balance on the left I make a profit of 94,934,463 (109,860,540 - 14,926,077).

If however I use the Profit From Exploration I make it 95,177,043 (95,180,474 - 3,431).

Which one is right, but more importantly how can these be different?

I haven't spent a single dime since I docked.

Any thoughts or confirmation on these being a well known "querk" of the game would be most welcome.

Could they have added the First Discovered bonus onto one and not the other?

Very possible.

I'll see if anyone can shed any light on it, if not I'll raise it as a bug.

If first discovery is 50%, and with the amount of data sold, this sounds implausible. Values are off by a tiny 0.255%
Strange, I'd go to the bug forum.

Agreed, the first discovery bonus should be much higher, unless you've almost entirely travelled the beaten path (and from otherposts, I doubt this is true). An anomaly to be sure, unless you got some sort of CG or other bonus from selling?

On my way out I did visit a few known spots such as North America & NGC 7822 Nebula, but having just picked systems every 100 from my log up to 550 those are the only real places that had been 1st Discovered, once I left there I was treading un-chartered space.

No CG that I'm aware of as I haven't signed up to one.

I'll raise it as bug and see what comes back, won't do any harm.

It is somehow sorted considering the last number on the right of the system name. That's all I could figure out about it.

Out of curiousity, how long was the trip that got you that profit? What kind of distance did you cover, how many systems, how long did it take you..? Just trying to work out where I'm at, or rather where I'll be when I get home from this expedition

Haha.... Well that's "Elite" logic for you, clear as day. Didn't even look that far to the right.

Something else that would help and I'm surprised it doesn't tell you is the number of pages you have to sell. Even showing Page X of Y would help.

So, I'm not the only one that this has happened to. I raised it as a bug, I'll see if there's any feed back from Frontier.

Note: I did gun it back at times on my return journey. Think I was slightly burnt out from being out so long and was keen to get back, certainly wasn't as thorough in scanning system objects on my way back.

There were 2 recent updates that screwed up systems visited reporting.
It could be that although the right hand side detail shows the appropriate # of systems visited (the missing systems counted), your bank account does not get adjusted properly.
Did you file a bug report?

Welcome back!

When I sold a lot of data recently, I noticed that the first page had a lot of hot, bright stars. I was unable to determine a simple ordering, however. Here's the top of that page:

And I also had a big discrepancy in my bank balance vs exploration profits, much bigger than yours. I raised a defect about it (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=155845) but as usual got no response. This was before the recent fixes to the cartographics server.

First page starts with systems with unique names (like Sagittarius A) and the ones that have 0 as the number on the far right, then 1,2...and so on.

Yes that's quite interesting! Iv just sold my data from my trip to the core

according to the 'profit from Exploration' data Iv sold 115,362,767 Credits

but according to my Account balance Iv only sold 107,488,128 Credits

Thats a difference of 7,874,639 Credits - nearly 8 million Credits

Had totally forgotten about this, and had given up on it.

Just checked and FD did reply: -

Very strange indeed.

If you guys are experiencing this frequently could I possibly get a verbose net log from you during the process? - (See the stickies section for how to create verbose netlogs) It'll help us investigate it further.

Additionally, if you guys want to contact the support team via the ticket system for a refund on any missing credits due to this issue I'm sure they'll be happy to help

I haven't been out since, so I'm unable to comment if it is still happening.

However, I've just been planning another trip and noticed the thread reappear so I will certainly be watchful upon my return and capture as much detail as I can to pass to FD should it happen again.
