Selling data to rank up question

Hello everyone,

When selling data to rank up with a faction or an engineer, is it the value of reports sold or the quantity of reports sold that matters?

I ask because I notice that CG's only care about number of reports rather than the value of the reports sold.

Appreciate any experience/advice.

CGs only care about the number of systems on which you are selling data. Faction (and Engineer) rep is determined by the value of reports. So, if you wanted to, you could visit a couple of nearby Earth-like/black hole/white dwarf systems, scan the valuable bodies, sell the data on those systems to the faction you want to gain rep with and then turn in the data on the other systems you scanned in passing with your ADS to a CG.

Ties in with elite ranking for exploration its value ( so its best to target G and F and K rated worlds as they ahve the highest % of earthlike, waterworld, ammonia terristirals and terraforming candidates)

Thanks everyone, having fun last night going from station to station (factions who hold permits), sifting the data to sell the high value items. It's taking quite a while, but is oddly satisfying.

That's what I do, I got two permits when I got home from Distant Worlds.
Since then I've got Farseer, Martuuk, current Children of Raxxla CG and continue to work whenever I can on making security ships show up green on my sensors. Also have a few particular factions I want to turn green.

I've been doing some investigation into selling cartographic data to aid minor faction ranking.

There are two different levels it seems. Numbers are rough figures

At Niu Hsing, and Wu Guinagi (fed/imp ranking spots, no permits) it was:
Cr1.2m Neutral --> Friendly
Cr1.75m Friendly --> Allied

At Anotchadiae, and HIP 18609 (Factions hold permit for Isinor and Peregrina respectively)
Cr2.25m Neutral --> Friendly
Cr3.5m Friendly --> Allied

I was wondering about this too, thanks. Are these also the most likely to harbour interesting planets to land on? I imagine a world with high volcanic activity would be the most interesting.
