Selling exploration data help influence?

I know it helps your rep but does it effect the minor faction's influence? The reason I ask is I sold about a million cr worth to a station owned by a faction I was trying to help. This was a system on the edge of the bubble with no player activity. There was 0 change in influence (the minor factions state was "none" at the time). This was about a month ago.

The faction who owns the station gets the influence. Cheers

edit: forgot to mention the state details as the person did below. Tried to help. But yes you are right in assuming it helps the faction who owns the station barring the states below mentioned.

Always check the faction summary in the station news. That will tell you if the factions are in conflict elsewhere. Also possible that other activity in system balanced your efforts.

"None" is a rare faction state. It usually indicates a conflict in another system. If that conflict is war or civil war, selling exploration data won't affect influence.

This.

Conversely, I made the mistake of forgetting my faction was in "Election" and handed in a bunch of bounties, which count for nothing too XD

We have all done that at some point.

Why didn't I move influence, check faction news see a state you forgot about. Facepalm.
