Selling exploration data...

I know it's been said - but I've not seen any official comment either way to FE DEVS - please, please, PLEASE sort out the selling of exploration data!

There used to be a Sell All button in beta, it disappeared in gamma - why was this? Was this removed because of a code issue or an actual decision?

At the moment, it takes on average 10 seconds to sell each system in the cartographics screen. Those of us who are going on deep space exploration can easily rack up several hundred systems worth of data to sell. For e.g., 500 systems, 10 seconds each plus a couple of seconds to move the mouse/click the button - over 1.5 hours just sat there clicking / selling the data.

I don't like being harsh, as the game is showing lots of potential and is being developed well, but this really does kill the enjoyment for me personally.

Thanks for reading :)

The button was there, but never worked. Maybe, it was to difficult to find the bug preventing the button to function. Hence, it was easier to remove the button for the time being, instead of leaving a non-working UI element in the game.
I am waiting for its return as well.

It did work some of the time, but yea it was bugged. I'd just like to see something from FEDEV to say it's on the list that's all.

I don't mind hitting a sell all button that then trickles them into my credit balance server side, imagine it being a case of "here's the data, you analyse/confirm it and pay me when it's complete"

I agree please fix. This should be a top priority along with buffing exploration and bounty hunter profits to be more similar to trading.

I have heard that the button may be returning in 1.1, but that it is going to be a sell page button rather than sell all. To be honest, this should suit most people, as it will make selling data A LOT faster, whilst not hiding the value of the systems to those that want to take note of the systems with the highest value.

I would hardly put it down as a top priority though, and this is coming from a dedicated explorer.

With regards to buffing different disciplines, this has to be done very carefully until the competition has ended. Otherwise, Frontier stand to give some players an advantage if they have specialised in one area before the buff and then the next discipline is much easier than the other commanders have had. Besides there are arguments stating that not every activity should generate the same level of credits. Balancing is something that is much easier to cry about rather than put into action - there will always be one group of players that are upset regardless.

Please don't get me wrong, but why does one of the more interesting jobs in ED need the same profits as one of the duller ones?

AFAIK, the Elite rank for Exploration is reached at 10% of the Cr needed for trading Elite. Also, the Asp is currently the best explorer. More expensive ships do not get the same jump range. Anaconda comes close, but might be a bit over the top for an explorer. As a pure explorer, there is not much to spend the Cr on.

For later game features, it would be better to increase the number of scanned systems with larger ships, than simply upping the Cr for exploration. Automated drones and their control software could be a nice progression. Or, a stellar body scanner with higher range to detail scan single bodies from far away instead of cruising close to every one of them. Both would increase spend money as well as profits and work very well together.

It is different for bounty hunting, as a Python is a valid choice for a bounty hunter and nearly impossible to get with just hunting. Instead of further increasing all of the bounties, some more difficult targets would be interesting, like a crime boss protected with several guards. The boss has a huge bounty and the guards nearly none. Whether in a mission or simply a USS, this would spice up bounty hunting for sure and make bigger ships viable for a hunter.

FWIW, I think there's enough money in exploration currently. It's just a bit of spit/polish that's needed.

Agree that a sell page button would be a welcome improvement, provided it's quicker than selling the 20 systems individually!

Not sure how much I'll make but spending a couple of weeks and going 2000Ly away from Sol would better be worth more than only a couple of millions... Not sure about this but someone said that he scanned only the most profitable bodies (high temp stars, metallic planets etc. so no rocky/icy planets) and he made only 6mil, the distance was couple of thousand Ly's, maybe more. But that's not really profitable, is it?

Anyway, sell all button or some kind of filter would be really helpful... I already tread the selling part when I come back from my 2000Ly trip.

Well, I just got back from the Lagoon nebula, where I scanned the stars (out to a reasonable distance), all the water, earthlike, metallic and nearby gas giants along the way. In all about 500 systems. I'm still selling the data (I started over 2 hours ago from the posting of this message!)... but so far I've netted 3.5mil. I think there's anouther 500k in small value systems left to sell.

The good systems are around 60-70k, most are around the 10-20k range with a good number of <5k per system

I spent two weeks on a core trip, 50,000 LY round tour, 10.5M. Had I hopped into my Python I could have traded that profit in an afternoon.

I do my exploration in an Anaconda because it gets a better max jump range than an Asp. Also, it feels more realistic for me to go into deep space for extended journeys on a light cruiser (more self-sufficient) than a dinky 2-person ship. :)

Could you post an image of what that's like? I eventually plan to use one for exploration as well.

Really? The Wiki has the Anaconda topping out at around 20LY. My Asp is a shade over 33LY

Edit : Misread the Wiki - you're right, the Anaconda and Asp are more or less the same jump range wise. But I don't have the cash for an Anaconda hehe

The cool thing about it is that the bridge has windows all the way to the sides. When lined up along the ecliptic, I can look and see >180 degrees.

Well, they can power off the AFM units until they need them, and the cargo hatch can be powered off too. Probably just about enough power actually - especially if they power off the fuels scoop and only scoop with their shields powered down - definitely do-able

Hmm.... Mind posting your loadout on here Until you do I'm calling . I have a conda with A rated FSD and get no where near that
your power usage is 190%
The site is wrong about Detailed Surface Scanner. It doesn't draw any power, when the site says it uses 0.6. I run at 96% with AFMs and Cargo Hatch turned off. You can call all you want, but that's what I'm running.

My jump range is 39.33Ly instead of 39.26Ly because I'm a little below full tank having just replenished my operating reservoir after flying away from the star to scan.

Edit. confirmed . Just tried to get them max jump range on a conda and its this. http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=306,,2-D8Ba9Y8SD8D88I,0AA08c7UmmpT072

Alomst naked with max FSD and lightest possible modules
You have a bunch of wasted mass. 8D Power Plant (64T), but you're using less than half and terrible heat efficiency. 7D Thrusters (32T), but you spend all you time in supercruise. 8D Power Distributor (64T), but you spend all your time in supercruise making boost and shield capacity/recharge useless. 6D Shield Generator (16T), but you spend all your time in supercruise where shields are disabled. I only have the shields in my loadout for safety when leaving space dock (and the 2T for the one I have doesn't affect much). My outfitting is 160.9T lighter than yours and I have Scanners.
