Selling Exploration scans?

I know when mining it really matters where you sell your cargo, does it matter where you sell scans?

* I know 20+ly but oter than that does it matter- including power play?

It gives you rep with the controlling faction, so it's a good way to get to allied status quickly, helping you to get better missions, rank up with the superpowers and fulfill the prerequisites to meet certain engineers. You can also hand the data in at some of the engineers' bases to quickly ramp them up to G5.

So it's value is the same anywhere, but perks for where?

The Credit value would be the same anywhere that can accept it (the +20 Ly thing). The secondary, and sometimes more interesting value is with reputation gain it can offer. Dropping scan data off will fill some of the faction buying it buckets. You cam/will gain reputation with the buying faction, and the buying faction will gain influence in that system.

That's what I was thinking, I am out at Saga A and have little over 25mil worth but I don't want to lose it in my travels to Colonia and back to the bubble. Not even sure you lose it if my ship gets destroyed but I think you do right?

If you're out at Sagittarius A*, just stop by Explorer's Anchorage which is 2 LY or so from Sag A* and sell your data there. Voila, no more risk of losing data.

Definitely. Ship loss ensures the loss of your data. If you have no faction to feed, sell it at your 1st safe opportunity.
