Selling modules

I came back to ED recently for the powerplay update. It's ok, a bit of a novelty IMO, but I'm turned off again by the 10% penalty for selling modules.

So, I sold my vulture for a Type 7. I found an okay trade route and thought I would grind for a couple of hours. When I went back to the shipyard, the account balances were not what I was expecting. Then I checked the Wiki, then I saw this stealth nerf.

Some of you may think 10% is not a big deal. If I may point out, insurance re-buy costs are 5% of your ship's value. By selling my ship (perfectly good condition, fully repaired, refuelled and rearmed), I was penalised as if I had been obliterated twice over!! Then twice more to revert back to my vulture or asp. ?? Insurance costs are enough of a heavy penalty as they are!! Plus, I had been tweaking my modules a fair bit during the time, so more losses there.

Ship trade-in costs used to be fine! They encouraged variety!

Edit: Turns out I was wrong. I'm going to murder that guy on the wiki. And keep better track of my account balance in the future.

The 10% reduction inselling price for used modules has been *temporarily* removed.

As it should have been in the game from the start, it will be back in the future, in some form or other.

its only 10% if folks are selling there entire ship and weapons just to get another ship then they shouldn't be using that new ship cause i doubt they would have it insured or have the cash to fit it.

Exactly. Frontier has always considered that the resale of modules must undergo a discount

What for? I trade-in ships often. I find it adds to the variety of gameplay.

If I had to self-destruct twice every time I swapped ships, I'd still be flying sidey / eagle / hauler.

I think the 10% makes sense if you've been using the modules for a period of time, but only if there was:
A. limited module storage feature
B. Try before you buy
C. Hot swapping of modules between ships
A+C probably with some sort of associated low level cost
if you want to sell used modules to generate credits then I agree that there should be a "hit" on that cash, and personally i'd put it even higher than 10% if the other options were available.
