Selling or Trading In Your Ship? - Best Way To Do It? - Full Value or Any Loss?

Hey guys...

I am getting close to buying my Type 9 Heavy and wanted to make sure that I understand exactly how the sale or trade in of a current ship works in the game. The T9 is BIG MONEY compared to all of my previous ship trades and purchases, so I want to get the best return on my T7 investment as possible.

Do you get 100% of the investment back when you sell an old ship?, or do you get dinged a percentage off the full value you spent? I have read in a few threads for the PC version that if you sell off all your modules in the Outfitter section first and THEN sell what's left in the Shipyard you get the best price. This is why I am posting this set of questions since if that is true, that indicates that you do not get the full value of any given ship if you just let the game trade in one ship towards the purchase of another.

I want to be sure I get the most $$ I can for my nearly maxed out T7 when I purchase my T9.

Also... Although I have asked this question in other somewhat related threads, I wanted to make sure that there wasn't a location in the game where the T9 can be purchased at a discount. I asked if Diaguandri sells the T9 Heavy and was told that it does not, and that is the only discount station I am aware of.

Thanks in advance for any input! I'm estimating I should have the credits to make this deal a few hours from now. I am holding off until i have enough additional credits on hand to cover the insurance replacement costs for a T9 twice. (at least)

You lose 10% on the hull value. And you always sell off what parts/modules you can on the ship before you trade it in. *edit, some parts you cannot sell, so downgrade them.

According to that thread, and reported back in June on the PC version, system LHS 3447 / Dalton Gateway has many large ships available and ships and modules are 20% off. They apparently stock the Type 9 Heavy and it sells there for 61.2 million CR. They also have the Python there for 45.6 million CR! :D

Unfortunately, no FDL. :(

But best of all for me!... This system is less than 76 lightyears away from where I am currently working a volume trade route with my T7! When the time comes, I can get over there to 3447 relatively quickly, and if I jump there empty, then not much more of a slog than some of the legs I do in a normal T7 trade run! :D

Thanks again SuperFly Guy! :) That link you provided me is likely to save me millions of credits when I join the T9 Heavy Pilot's Association! :D

dont sell and have ships every where

I have a couple, but ships everywhere? You can only fly one at a time!! :D In general I think that I could live with just one, but I like the idea that I can kill myself to the point of no insurance, then fly over to grab my Vulture and set fire to the galaxy as revenge for its hostility.

You're always best to sell off your hard point equipment and weapons and utility equipment first to get their value back then sell the ship. You lose a hell of a lot of money if you sell the ship with all addons included!

That's expired or not on the XB1, The T9 is full price there.

So, just to confirm I've understood all this correctly, buying an A4 Frame Shift Drive for 1.6million will help me to trade faster/more efficiently and I'll be able to sell it before upgrading my ship and will get the full 1.6mill back?

Apart from the cost of replacing it with a 4E FSD... yes. You can't leave a hull with no FSD unfortunately :)
