Selling scanned data only

I'm scanning an area where I've been before, and stumbled upon a system which I honked before. 2 suns, ice and rock only, many lightseconds apart. Moved on the last time, moving on again.

So I have sold the honk data before.

I moved on but was wondering, what if I had scanned it?

Would I be able to sell that data or is that system flagged as sold?

If I was able to sell the data, would I get the first discovery tag?

This is something I have wondered too. You get paid for scanning a system someone already has, so maybe you do. Unfortunately, I have my name on very few systems and even if I could remember where they were, it would be a bit of schlep just to find out.

Yes and yes, well at least in 1.2 - I have a project to scan a specific bit of the galaxy and have skipped over stars and gone back on subsequent visits to mop up and got the cash and fame etc. on return to civilisation :)

You can sell scans and honks separately. If you want to maximise profit per system, honk, leave, sell, go back and scan everything.

(I'm pretty sure you could use this to hand in one system 10 times to the community goal, though it would be considerably less efficient than handing in 10 systems once...)

I am a complete noob at exploration - why is this?
