Selling ships

Hi

So iv been playing since Beta, very sporadically, only just got up to the Imperial Clipper. Now my question is, what is the most cost effective way to upgrade your ship.

A) Strip all the fittings
B) Leave it fitted

I ask because obviously the value of the ship goes up with the fittings, but do you make a loss on those fittings the same as you do if you are to simply buy and then sell a ship? Probably been asked many times, but wanted to check the current status.

Basically find myself in the FDL or Python upgrade stage and trying to figure out how to do this in a cost effective manner.

Cheers

When you sell your ship, you lose 10% of its total value, including the modules. When selling modules you get back 100% of their value.

Always sell off whatever modules you can first, and downgrade the rest to the smallest, lowest-rated ones the station has on offer.

I always sell, It used to make a difference I dont know if it still does, never tested it, but I feel better selling first.

Top advice when selling the Clipper is that you can only sell armour (bulkheads) where the ship is for sale so don't go trying to sell it in Federation space ;)

i always strip down to the lowest fuel tank before i sell. And if you're on the fence between the FDL and python, go python. I have had both. Sold FDL

A option... since always.

Downgrade all modules to E and cheapest as possible then sell ship. In outfit shop you wont lose Cr from selling modules. But selling them on Shipyard along ship its lose 10% each of modules.

One more note: If you sell a module that's compatible with the ship you're buying, it will still be available when you go to outfit your new ship, even if the station doesn't normally stock it. This only applies up until you undock from the station.

It still applies after you un-dock actually. It's about a 10 minute timer, as long as you stay in the same instance. (ie don't go into SC or jump out of system)

Many thanks Fellas - I was more leaning towards the python, as it is more multi-role which fits my gameplay style at the moment.
