Am I understanding correctly that if I want to say, temporarily replace my Scanner (or whatever) with extra cargo space, I can't store my scanner for later? I have to sell it for 0 (loaner scanner) then rebuy it for money after? Or is the loaner scanner going to be available for 0?

Seems a weird oversight to not be able to save components or maybe I am missing something.

Same question at the other end of the scale. I have an advanced scanner that I dont want to be flying dangerous bounty missions with due to the insurance. If I sell it, then I know I can rebuy it while still at the station, but will it stay available if I fly off for a couple of days?

Stations dont store stuff for you in their garage until you get back. You will lose your rebuy option when you launch.

Suspected as much. Bought a sidey to keep my bits in. Doesn't help the Op, but does the job for me.
