Newcomer / Intro Senior Wannabe Commander Inquiries

If you flew with ME that thing you think is a challenge would not be a challenge at all. Your currrent instructors are great - just ask them!
I have no interest in promoting my own flight. I just want to help newcomer's.

I'm having much better luck working EDDB trading. I'm getting it down. Two times now I think I have the items to deliver for board missions before I take off, only to find I do not when I get to the mission destination. Should the items I'm being given for the mission, after I increment them, show up in my gargo hold? I really think I'm followng the instructions. Operator head space, what can I say?

Had my first intradiction today. Good news is I have watched a few training vids to "in theory" hit the escape vector. It worked, I got out of the jam. I bleieve having good stick HOTAS skills from my DCS days payed off.

It had me wondering about having nearly all my net worth in the cargo hold. Had I lost the intradiction would I have had my entire cargo, thus my entire credits net worth taken? I believe I broke the first rule of flying without buyback for that flight. So... when I tell EDDB how much I have to trade with should I lie and leave a credit cushion that does not go into the cargo hold?

Thanks guys... truly appreciate the pointers here.

And. I discovered I can turn auto docking on and off pretty much at will. So if I think I have the station figured out, I turn it off and giverago. Landed backwards twice, but hey... progress is being made. Turning it back on picked me up and straighened it out. Pretty snazzy actually. My confidence is building.

And... two planet landings and takeoffs logged.

After setting the amount of cargo you want you have to press the buy button (or the big button in between the + and - buttons for delivery runs) to actually transfer the cargo into your ship. It's easy to forget when you're in a hurry. Still happens to me sometimes after all those years.

If your ship is destroyed the cargo is gone and so is the money invested in it. The rebuy cost for your ship has to come from whatever amount of credits you had left when you launched. The good new is: you can get a loan.
But maybe it's better to avoid that and not let EDDB use all your money for trading runs. Keep at least two rebuys in reserve. The second rule of rebuys is: one rebuy is no rebuy!

You have to click the button (area) between the + and - signs (Collect Items) - then the bottom left says "all items collected" or some such and the bar in the transactions tab mission details will be full and in the mission brief view show as empty. Always check your inventory tab (on the right UI) before hitting launch - get in the habit of doing this all the time and 1) you won't forget the mission cargo 2) you won't fly with illegal goods and 3) you won't forget your limpets (when mining).
