Sensor Improvement - Arc, Not Lines to Show Objects above and below

The more I look at them, the more I think that ED gives good direction/poor distance while the other is good distance/poor direction. I think you'd need to combine stalks & arcs to get the best of both, and then we really would need a larger size and more resolution.

The original Elite scanner (or the FE2/FFE improvements to it) gave both good distance and good direction.

The ED scanner, using logarithmic rather than linear scales, is a step back.

Inevitable in supercruise given that no linear scanner could possibly do that ... more annoying that even when set to Linear it still doesn't display linear distances in normal space, and barely shows distance at all until you're right on top of something.

EDIT: correction. In linear mode the scanner is linear in normal space, but has the problem that the scanner circles don't change at all so it looks non-linear if you try to use those to judge distance. There's also no indication of what the zoom levels mean the edge of it is, which doesn't help.
