Ships Sensors forcibly changed?

So as some(most?) may know, way back when, the Imperial Clipper had a sort of bug where it could equip any class of sensor, not only the class of it's slot. Many took advantage of this to equip class 1D or 1A sensors to save on power/weight, and in the case of 1A sensors, get rather insane effectiveness/weight/power ratios for a ship it's size. Eventually the bug came to light and it was fixed, but it was also stated that those who had Clippers with 'illegal' sensor arrays would be allowed to keep them. With that notice, personal sob story incoming, I did a ton of grinding to finish my Imperial rep, get the money for the Clipper, and fit it with 1A sensors. I logged on today for the first time in quite awhile, and my Clipper immediately lost power upon logging in. A quick check revealed my sensors were now 5A.

So... what gives? Was this announced at any point? I can't say I'm outraged, as I know how much I dislike it when I get into a game late only to find some little bonus is forever locked out to me, I just can't find any note anywhere saying they were going back on their word about allowing us lucky few to keep our specially fitted Clippers.

I sorely wish I could do that with my Exploration Anaconda, I mean 64T of sensors (lightest available) is more weight than all my other modules put together!

Personally I wish you the best of luck getting your "bonus" back but D rated sensors in the Clipper are 8Tons with -0.37 power draw, with the Clippers powerplant capabilities you should be able to sort that fairly quickly.

Why do the sensors of bigger ships weigh so much anyway? Doesn't make a lot of sense.
For every other module I can think of bigger modules are more powerful but sensors seem to have the same range regardless.
