Sent to detention centre after paying fine

Got bored of running sightseeing tours in Sothis after scanning nearby systems' bodies, and found Explorer rank increases more with selling chartographs.


So went back to Pleiades to switch back into Krait and flew to Gang Yun only to find it in Lockdown state :( So went to Niu Hsing since it's nearby and picked up 2 planetary scan missions each worth 2 mil and became Wanted but no Notoriety. Flew back into outpost to pay 1,000 fines and was sent to a detention centre (on a megaship) 2 jumps away! As I left the megaship, control comm'ed to say they hope not to see me here again :/


Then returned to Niu Hsing, and to rub salt into an open wound, the station counted 1 of 2 missions as completed only. So, I had to return to planet 3rd time to scan the private data point and became Wanted again! This new C&P will surely put us off in doing planetary scan missions :(

Illegal base scans result in bounties, not fines. If you want to pay these and avoid being detained you need to go to an interstellar factors agent somewhere outside the jurisdiction of the bounty. Otherwise, attempting to do so by handing yourself in at a station within the jurisdiction that issued the bounty will result in arrest and detention, after they've taken your money for the bounty of course.

No, I paid the fine in station.

Yea it happened to me too when i tried to pay the fine, i was transfered in detention center. I also had to do again the 48K ls to be able to hand in my missions. I ofc stopped doing those missions.
Pretty clever c&p system.. for a ten year old.

Certainly sounds like you handed yourselves in - I did the same, but was paying attention and hence not surprised by what happened.

It's a cretinous system. If you hand yourself in to pay the fine that should be the end of it. There's absolutely no reason (that I can see) that requires the player to be sent to a detention centre for immediate release - tho' I guess maybe the stations don't have the correct release forms or something.

That's where the hand-in happens. It says "Hand yourself In" at the top, easy to miss. The button does not say it, just the label at the top.

If you go to an IF instead, you won't get sent to the detention center.

If you pay off a bounty at the station where you're wanted, however, you do go to the detention center.

Do whichever makes the most sense at the time.

That said, I dislike the entire C&P system, just for the record.

I'll say it again: Illegal base scans result in bounties, not fines. If you attempt to pay a bounty, any bounty, to the jurisdiction from which it was issued, you will be arrested. Go to an interstellar factors agent outside the jurisdiction to clear your bounty. Fines are a different matter and can be paid to the jurisdiction responsible for issuing them.

Thanks for the info. Well i pretty much didnt had any choice since i wanted to complete the missions, so it looks a bit stupid for me. If i wanted to hand myself in, i would go to an IF. Stopped doing the missions cause i cannot bother with stupidity and.. boom, problem solved.

Darn, I missed those "Hand Yourself In" words twice 'cause wanted to get it over and done with quickly :p

I also dislike the new C&P especially when bounty is gotten from the same controlling minor faction who offered the missions - doesn't make sense :rolleyes:

it actually does make sense if you think about it, they offer you an illegal mission, whether to destroy scan or collect against a rival faction(s) and of course you are going to get a fine/bounty from the mission giver because otherwise they would be condoning your illegal activities for all the rival factions to see, and as we all know, governments never admit that they condone or participate in illegal activities against their rivals.

How do you get to the detention centre? are you loaded into a transporter and flown immersively, or are you simply 'teleported'? Because if teleportation is a thing, then I would like to get hold of the tech myself, and use it for all kinds of helpful tasks.

You go to an intermediate screen like Rebuy. In fact, I had to click Purchase button for zero CR before loaded into detention centre.

OP you handed yourself in. Did the same thing myself by accident yesterday. Read carefully next time and make sure you use IF instead of the local authorities.

Where it should say "pay fine" it now says "hand yourself in". I know this because I was recording gameplay and went back and checked. Might have something to do with being currently wanted vs just having a warrant, not sure.

Yes I know now except prior to Beyond Ch 1, there was no detention centre and remember Wanted status used to lapse after 10 mins or an hour.

I just don't do the scan missions anymore, not worth the hassle when there are better ways to make money and faction rep.
