Separate UI Focus for Ship & SRV?

There's only one thing that frustrates me about this game, and it's that we don't have separate settings/binds for UI Focus. What setting you have for your ship is what you have in your SRV.

In VR, in my ship, I love having my Navigation & System Panels appear when I look at them. In the SRV, it just does not work. You look even slightly left & right, they appear, and then you lose the ability to steer left & right. They just get in the way all the time, in a manner that they don't in the ship. We should be able to set these separately from the ship. I would assign button binds to make the Navigation & System panels appear in the SRV.

Devs, please?
 
No love for this? With how many button bindings are already in game, I'm really surprised this isn't an option!

I have never found it an issue with trackIR - (I didn't "get on" with Rift so sold it). How does the panel being visible stop you from steering? Have you got the panels set to be "in focus" when you look at them?

Yes, that's exactly how I have it set up, because in my ship, that is perfect in VR. The System & Navigation panes never get in the way of looking out cockpit windows in any ship I've tried, and using UI Focus frees up buttons for other functions. Unfortunately, these panes constantly get in the way in the SRV. They block the area where you'd naturally be looking left and right, and perhaps it's stopping my steering only because my joystick yaw is for turning left and right, and also for navigating the tabs in the Navigation and System Pane, but I shouldn't have to map yaw/steering controls differently to avoid this happening; I should be able to independently set the Navigation and System pane so ship can function via looking, and SRV can function via a button press.
