Damn, I LOVED "Privateer The Darkening", easily the first "game that was like a movie"

Ah, that was an awesome game. And I bought it again from GOG in a sale a few months ago. Unfortunately I now need to build a computer old enough to play it properly.

Totally worth it man. I got it running on my computer recently at it was amazing. I played it again in uber-ironman mode (never die and win every mission or the game restarts) - surprisingly exciting to play that way!
Although a bit depressing TBH. Sometimes it feels like the older space games are more of a finished product that this game is! Hopefully with the core improvements thing it won't be like that anymore.
I remember playing that and thinking the PAD was so cool, a little touchscreen device that you could use to communicate, access information and generally manage your life. Amazing stuff that sci-fi...

I liked 'Privateer: The Darkening'. The moody FMV really complemented the good (for the time) space engine.
Combat was fun too. I liked the NPCs screams of terror when you shot them to pieces, I wish ED had the same
