Serious question.

Dear developers, is it realistically possible to play Elite without the need to re-log?

Developers do not know for sure, they had never played it without dev tools.

Sure, you can. You can fly to Hutton, refuel and go back to main star. Then repeat this again and again. A lot of people consider this a valuable gameplay, judging by autopilot discussions. And you would technically be playing.

And mission board refresh automatically every 15 mins (I think its 15) Or you pop to another station in the same system checking for jobs , or go do a mini job and pop back looking for bigger jobs

Guardian segments for example. 18 of them... can you get them realistically, without the need to re-log?

i am full with guardian thingies, been out there a couple time, visited about 7 locations
tourist rides so to say, just for the view and never logged there

I love waiting at every stoplight, for fifteen minutes!

There are only twelve of them between me, and the highway I need to get on...

Realistically you can play the entire game without the need to relog. The choice on whether to relog is entirely yours.

Accept what you have been given, or not, that's your choice and it always has been.

I don't accept it, so that's why I'm not Space Rich, or Triple Elite.

That still doesn't make it good game design.

Unfortunately, there are very very few games in this world that are capable of mind reading and handing out the exact thing you need, especially true in a sandbox...

Relogging is a tool and a very useful tool which is useful fer an awful lot more than board flipping...saves bucket loads of time and hassle.

The alternative is to intentionally waste yer time...in a game where the most common complaint is how everything takes too much time.

Ergo the issue won’t go away because the counter is utterly pathetic and is more amusing than serious imo...

I realize I am not a developer so am not the person you expected but I can answer the question.

Yes. I have been playing the game since joining the alpha and I have never re-logged.

I wish I could say the same. But I did try re-logging, once (for a whole evening)... And discovered that contrary to popular advice given on the web, it doesn't add anything to the game at all. :D I can get more missions in the same timeframe by simply flying to the next space station. If I really need to reset an instance, then I'll go to supercruise and then drop again - I'd much rather be playing the game itself rather than the loading screen/menus.

I should add, that I do think that the current implementation of the guardian missions is silly. I am waiting until they've sorted that out before I go and check it out.

Just anecdotally, it is faster for me to access outfitting, to do a menu relog than it is to wait for the ship to be lowered.

Blueprint situation is dumb, and anyone who doesn't see and issue is deluding themselves that it's good game-play (I've visited them all in mapping them, and I still wouldn't jump between them for the blueprints).

Otherwise relogs are usually associated with grinding, and people who grind love the repetition, so it's not really a problem - right?

Yes.

Take off, supercruise, land, repeat.

Course, you'd have to have a serious aversion to re-logging to do that.
It's not like you're skipping through any "required gameplay" by re-logging.

FDev really need to ask themselves what their intentions are.
If they're determined to limit how quickly people can do this stuff, find a way to hard-code a limit into how often stuff resets.
If not, why bother making it a tedious grind at all?
