Seriously, an Alliance ship is almost past due

2 Feddy ships, 1 Empire Ship, 0 Alliance ship.

I don't care about your belief that the Alliance are terrible, I'm not a cheerleader for them. Just think it's odd is all.

I think a good part of the reason they don't restrict players from allying and ranking up with multiple factions is that they don't intend for the factions to be equally powerful by any means. The alliance, in this universe, is by far the weakest power. It's basically the futuristic equivalent of the Third World (in the original, Cold War sense of the term). It's not going to be competitive with the NATO or Warsaw Pact nations.

Nor is there any reason they need to be on par with the others. Just the existence of three different groups doesn't mean they're going to be equally powerful, or equally useful to players.

I can not imagine an Alliance having their own shipyard making ships specific for their own use. Not that I would not welcome any extra ships, it just make more sense for them to use readily available & proven designs.

Yeah, it's really discouraging to go independent rather than Empire or fed given they have no unique ship. I usually play pro Empire but I would definitely pump independant ranks for their ship over fed(even though I want the dropship for when passenger stuff hits). If they don't get a unique ship I feel they should at least get their own variants of the small ships( cause it's super easy to hack a small ship lie a sidewinder compared to corvette-frigate class).

I'd actually be willing to wait for multiple independent variants if they were different enough. Especially seeing as I'm kind of annoyed at how the faction ships are basically asp alternative(empire, and also the only alternative of it's class annoyingly)and passenger ship(no ETA on passenger missions, entire possiblility the might not be profitable or worthwhile at all given the dearth of information.

I'd like if ships were more available in the way that cars are, sold by specific manufacturers and dealerships. Like if you want a ship manufactured by Gutamaya you have to go to starports where they have deals set up with the minor factions. This would mean mostly imperial space with a few along the borders. More popular ships with wider reaching customer demographics like the sidewinder, cobra, viper etc would be available for sale in more major and minor factions' space. This would disperse the ships by region a bit more and widen the selection of reputation or rank accessible ones like the clipper and dropship. You might have to go to Alliance space if you want, say, any less common ZPG ship instead of one specific craft you grind rep for before leaving, giving you more reason to go there and make a name for yourself.
Of course we'd need more ships in total to avoid dispersing them too much, but that's only a good thing :)

I think if this game goes long term, like eve online the devs may expand versions for even minor factions ( a named ship if u reach a high enough rank). Same goes for the alliance, but it will need enough players to get behind alliance groups and involved in aliance politics or areas of operation to get that attention

I kind of expected the Alliance to develop ships in a sort of collaborative fashion so they would look completely different from the other factions. That, or they would spend more time developing different weapons for members of the alliance since they likely take the clout to get some private contractor to design a new craft that wouldn't be sold at great volume.

It's sort of pointless to put something in the game if you're not going to use it. There's some missing potential in the gameplay in E: D, I don't think that can be denied, fortunately those things can be fixed. I'd like to see a better military presence in the game world. There should be military stations that only those with military rank can use, benefits of those should be access to equipment and supplies at better rates depending on rank. The Alliance can distinguish itself with better services and products if it can't make ships - they treat you more like family. These details add life to the background sim.
