Seriously, what's with ship integrity?

I heard that it increases your hull's vulnerability to damage, also that 0% might cause module failures. If it did cause module failures, FD should add a way to see your Ship Integrity when away from a station (like in deep space for explorers).

Integrity: the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.
Integrity: the state of being whole and undivided.

hmmm not the first but maybe the second.....wouldnt want a divided ship

According to this forum anyway, your ship's maximum hull strength is reduced by 30% when integrity hits zero. Think Dark Souls max HP pool reduction every time you die.

Imagine your cockpit windows being replaced with plastic and duct tape... Chewing gum used to plug the holes caused by micrometeorites... Now, imagine the likelihood that it will break apart if someone coughs in the general direction of your ship...

Now imagine that it's just a max HP reduction instead of any kind of deeper simulation of wear on the ship structure and equipment, and there we have it.
FE2 had a more advanced, interesting and realistic W&T system.
