Seriously Xbox before PC? Frontier Shame on you! AND......

Registered to comment on this:

CCP and Eve did the same thing. Took all the money PC gamers put into the game and released a console only experience with it. This is upsetting on so many levels.

How could you seriously send me an email to my computer and say "yea we're giving this content that you funded development of to console kiddies first" without thinking about it at all?

I seriously hope this does not become a trend but I am eagerly anticipating what changes you make to the game to cater to console's lack of hardware and control fidelity. Will you have to remove certain abilities and weapons from the game because the Xbone's controller doesn't have enough buttons?

Time will tell. You're going down a dark path with this.

- CQC is not a "console only experience". It'll be on your hard drive in a few months.

- Nobody took your money to make it. Frontier is a multi title studio. They make more than one game. This might be how they have stayed in business for 21 years.

- Console versions of ED were mentioned in the initial Kickstarter and frequently since.

- The Xbox version (of Elite Dangerous) is already available to download. It's pretty much the same as the PC version. Frontier have added an overlay for the controller but they haven't changed the PC version. You won't suddenly find the PC version doesn't support Oculus rift, HOTAS controllers, Head motion tracking, 4K montors and many other peripherals so called "PC specific" titles don't tend to support.

- Finally don't you find the word "fidelity" is being overused right now? It's like saying "detail" but using way too many syllables.

This old story again , I thought we got over this non- issue long ago .

Non issue for you perhaps but not for everyone else.
Alot of people, including myself, find it really bad that they are putting console before PC, even though this game was designed first and foremost for PC, and the PC audience even helped make the game a reality in the first place.

Its a god damn shame that FD is so oblivious to a rather significant (and growing afaik) amount of players becoming more and more hopeless about the game and its development.
I wouldnt even be surprised to see Elite: Dangerous 2 announced the coming fall, to be released 2016. Xbox first, of course. (i know, im stretching it but not too much)

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. CQC will be good for the XB1ers because it'll be a training ground for them. If you want you can simulate this game mode on the PC version anyway. Just get a bunch of people together in the same instance with a bunch of cheap ships, and squeal out obscene insults while knocking the stuffing out of each other.

FD needs income to pay for all these cool updates we get for free. Let them sell whatever they want to whoever they want imo. Otherwise the money would eventually run out, then we would really have something to cry about.

Eve Valkyrie has not been confirmed to be on PC yet as far as I know. Besides that, the game I was talking about was Dust514 which has been out for years and is still PS3 exclusive.

I'd have no idea if fidelity has been overused or not seeing as this is my first post on this forum.

Wow, doesn't take much to stir this up again. I though we'd moved on from attacking the E3 announcement to rubbishing the new powerplay weapons before we have a go at the announcement from gamescon.

Yes sarcasm is very much implied. Tried to write something on topic but I feel everyone above has already beaten me to it.

Really can't believe that they are releasing CQC on Xbox first. So much attention starting to be focused on Xbox and MAc And were not getting the game promised in the beginning. I Mean seriously C-mon. Missions are still HORRID! Instead of spending time on stuff not originally promissed in the game focus your team on actually creating a real interactive and multilevel mission system that will involve the players and make us actually want to do the missions. Not to mention the waste of time PowerPlay stuff.Nothing in the whole thing effects a player individually. (accept that if I spend all my free time playing for merits only loosing money in the process I get access to a new weapon which should be something incorporated in a mission somewhere.) And we still can't store items or even switch one item to another ship. I have been very patient and played for over a year and just getting tired of frontiers wasted time on stuff that's not needed when core gameplay still is very very flawed. and while im at it. Still only have like 5 space station styles in billions of stars, And they all look the same.... really?

Why would every station be so different? I flew on a 737 the other week and it looked exactly like every other 737 I've ever flown on. It wasn't different because it was going to a different country.

So they come up with a space station that works and so they build the same everywhere because it's cheaper than spending billions of credits designing and making different looking ones!

I'm frankly absolutely blown away by this.

It isn't console-only. We're getting CQC free, just later. It's just X-box players beta test it and then get it first.

So knowing that, let's look at the actual complaint here.

It is that someone else gets to play this entirely free addition to the game that you are guaranteed to get - they just get it a little bit before you.

Anyone who thinks this is a valid complaint, can you just take a step back for a second and think? Do you have any idea what this makes you sound like?

Here's my entire opinon of it - I'm glad there's going to be more free content. That's it. Nothing else. I get some more free content added to the game. Great.

The fact that some other people will be playing it a little while before me makes absolutely zero difference. Why should it? Why on earth would I care about that?

Are you really that spiteful, that petty, that childishly jealous, that you will throw a tantrum and start flinging around accusations of betrayal and 'dark paths', just because some other players get to do something before you do? Something you will be getting for free a little while later?

Are you really able to say these things with no self-awareness or irony? Did it not even occur to you? Really?

Who are you trying to school?
You should reread your own post and ask yourself how YOU make yourself out to others.

Its not about xbox players getting to play early, but about why FD chose xbox first.
I can only hope its entirely economical and not because they will start focusing on that audience instead of the PC counterpart.

It matters because it might change the game and where it aims to go completely.

Confirmed at E3, and PCGamer, whose event it was confirmed at, even dedicated a webpage solely to information about the PC version

They are not putting consoles before PC. It has been said that PC remains the lead platform, and that this timed Xbox exclusive is the exception rather than the new rule. Like I said before, they needed something special to show with the Xbox version, and this update is obviously designed with console players in mind. The fact that it will be launched separately from the main game proves that it doesn't signify a change in direction for the whole game, it's just a new branch. If you don't like this new aspect (personnaly I'm not really interested but will probably give it a try), then too bad, but it doesn't mean the team isn't still working on the main game. Next month they will reveal something big coming first to PC/Mac, maybe the first paid expansion (would be about time for a reveal).

I won't lose sleep over waiting for a few months for a free update that I don't really care about anyway, and that won't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

You, obviously. Because in your initial post, you seem to have completely ignored that Michael Brookes actually addressed this in his dev update on the 19th June.

"The most obvious news is the addition of CQC (Close Quarter Championship) to the game. This is a visceral and fast paced PVP arena combat mode within the game and while it’s something we’ve had in mind for some time it’s such a natural fit for the Xbox that it will be one of the very rare times that a feature does not appear on PC or Mac first. However, we are aware that there is an appetite for arena based combat on PC and Mac, so CQC will be coming to those platforms for free before the end of the year.

PC remains an important priority for us, indeed it is the lead platform for development. While we're not talking about some of the major new future additions coming first to PC and Mac just yet, you can expect news on this 'soon'!"

https://community.elitedangerous.com/node/205

And yet you, without any irony, just come out with hyperbolic nonsense like "Alot of people, including myself, find it really bad that they are putting console before PC, even though this game was designed first and foremost for PC". So you've just decided that's what's happening then? Despite that exact concern already being addressed by the dev team over a week ago? If you come out with palpable misinformation, then be ready for other people to call you on it.

And yeah, I'm fine with my post disagreeing with what you said in the strongest possible terms. I don't think you or anyone complaining about this 'issue' has a leg to stand on. And I'm free to voice that as sarcastically as you voice your own opinion about Frontier.
