seriously?!?!

why do you guys let people in multi-million credit ships interdict you when you're in a sidewinder, and then when you attack them for interdicting, suddenly I'M the one who get's "wanted"??? i thought it was illegal to interdict... that's really consistent... thank you so much... shame on me for attempting to transport my ship 80 LY. now i have to restart

Always scan before attacking anyone.

If they are wanted, fire away.
If you are not ready to face a multi-million ship, RUN!

if i tried running, he'd chase me and interdict me again... i had no chance...

it was in federation space too... idk how the hell this happens.

he chased you, interdicted you more than once, but didn't shoot, and you're upset that he wasn't wanted? if he was just with you switch to open play, or, jump to a station and dock so you have a closer "respawn" point.

HA! and when i try reporting him for "criminal" behavior, my game freezes... what a lovely bug...

yeah, this definitely spoiled my opinion of this game...

It's not illegal to interdict. However, it is illegal to attack a target without scanning it first!

then why has the game said it is?

i was in the middle of finding a station... so this doesnt help

Interdiction is not a crime. Navy NPC's will interdict you so they can cargo scan you for smuggling and bounty hunters to use kill warrant scanners. If you attack someone for doing a stop and check yeah you get in trouble. The only time you can attack is if they are wanted. If you shoot a ship that says "Clean" for any reason they you will get a bounty or your bounty will go up. Even if you are wanted and under attack by a clean ship. To put it simply you have a right to shoot at wanted ships and you get a bounty if you shoot at a clean ship. It is that simple.

lol You should have made the trip in private mode if you didn't want to take it in the pooper.

so they can damage my ship, harass me, and it's perfectly fine??? but if i stand up for myself, suddenly i'm the bad guy??

i've NEVER been interdicted by anyone other than pirates... so i just don't believe you when you say "Navy NPCs do it"

When your getting interdicted set your throttle to 0 and submit. That way you can turn and run ;)

- Throttle up and get the other ship directly behind you - full power to engines + boost, because you submitted you can fire up your FSD after 5 seconds. Piece of cake really :)

Yep, ED is a very realistic simulation of life

It's not illegal to interdict.

I consider it a hostile act and will cheerfully open fire immediately if interdicted without regard for the legal consequences. I sympathise with the OP.

I believe that interdicting should be a crime if the target has no criminal record. (Anywhere. So a bounty hunter looking for a particular target they knew to be wanted would be fine to interdict.)

If you stop you wont get damaged. Then if he is clean just boost up and leave. If he shoots at you and hits you he will become wanted and you can get him.

The best way to not get interdicted so much is to not fly straight to your destination. Like when you come into a star from a jump and then go straight for a station, thats what everyone does and its the route with most traffic. I jump in, fly sideways a little bit, then steer towards the station. And while going towards the station i keep an eye on the radar, and if someone is coming my way i just move a bit to keep them at a distance. Last 10 hours i played i was interdicted once from an NPC.

There are 3 ways to resolve a interdiction and you only get damaged for fighting it and failing

1. You fight the interdiction and he forces it. Both ships are knocked out of super cruise and take damage.

2. You fight the interdiction and win. You take no damage and he gets knocked out of super cruise and giving his drive a cooldown leaving him behind as you go on your marry way.

3. You summit to the interdiction by decelerating to zero. Both ships drop out of super cruise with no damage and without spinning. This is the best method if you feel you cant avoid it or you want to be interdicted.

You could of lost him or submitted with no damage and then just charged up and jumped out again. You got annoyed and shot at him instead. That is a crime.

Agreed. Unwarranted interdiction should be a crime. GalNet hints that it might go this way. Yes, security vessels do interdict. Too frequently in Gamma, infrequent at present. Stop and search laws eh? Hopefully linked to volatility of the system. Just like....
